I'm gonna (probably very wrongly) predict these are the 5 for best international film:
Denmark, “Another Round” France, “Two of Us” Guatemala, “La Llorona” Mexico, “I’m No Longer Here” Taiwan, “A Sun”
“The Mole Agent” (Chile) and “Collective” (Romania) will both make documentary instead, although I suppose one or both could pull a Honeyland and get into both, but I doubt it.
Other honorable mentions: Czech Republic, “Charlatan” Russia, “Dear Comrades!”

Told y'all that Love and Monsters could become a big VFX contender! I think it's getting that nomination. Such sad-looking VFX and Makeup shortlists...

If Wuhan Flu wins best song, I don't care about anything else this year, I'll be a happy man.

Little Things in Makeup/Hair? I guess they're hoping Jared Leto's greasy mop of hair was a wig.

I still haven't seen it but I want us to get nominated again lol.

Little Things in Makeup/Hair? I guess they're hoping Jared Leto's greasy mop of hair was a wig. There's also the factor of the corpses - fairly standard stuff for detective movies (certainly not as creative/creepy as anything in Se7en which deserved to be nominated) but I guess they thought it was enough. For me the stupidest slot in the Makeup shortlist is One Night in Miami...WTF? For fucking what, painting one of the actors' hair red? Such a shame when there were movies like Bill & Ted and I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Or even Borat which snub truly surprises me.

Dear Comrades! wasn't very good I thought but it's from Andrey Konchalovskiy who's had an interesting curve of a directing career...... He was also a classmate of Tarkovsky and cowrote Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev. Agnieszka Holland is also in the shortlist (Charlatan, haven't seen). I'm rooting for A Sun.

How the hell did they not even sumbit 'Edgar's Prayer' from Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar for Original Song? Should be the frontrunner tbh (or at least the runner-up after 'The Plan')
