Damn. I genuinely was hoping that we would get to see more of him in next few years, given how active he was. Granted, I haven't seen many of his films, but he always had an amazing screen presence. This hurts.
Rest in peace Mr. Plummer.

Truly gutted by this one. I had the pleasure of seeing him on stage in Antony and Cleopatra in 2008 and he was incredible. One of my first cinematic loves in The Sound of Music and that Nazi flag ripping scene takes me there. From The Silent Partner to Up to The Insider, he was such a wonderful presence and will truly be missed.

Weird, he was just on my mind yesterday as I was looking over Best Supporting Actor winners from this past decade, and was thinking about how awesome it was that he was still kicking at his age.
Who's going to replace actors when they're cancelled now??

Yeah, this is a rough one. One of the best. RIP Unexpected as well, because he always seemed so robust, despite his advanced years. I mean, it shouldn't be unexpected because 91 is pretty old, and he led a complete life. But sort of felt he had more years of living and first rate performances to give, because he never seemed quite as frail as his age would suggest he might. He was Canada's Greatest Actor (with respect to Donald Sutherland, who I guess inherits the mantle of Canada's Greatest Living Actor). His wife said that he died "because of a blow to the head resulting from a fall", so he may well have had a few (acting) years left in him.

But at his age, household falls that a younger body might survive can be fatal.

Goddamn Rewatched The Insider recently and had a whole conversation with my friends after about how much of a legend Plummer is. RIP, and what an insane body of work he leaves behind.

Why are people celebrating this man?? He played a gay man, and won an Oscar for it, while being heterosexual himself. I thought that was not allowed, given the recent outrage against James Corden in The Prom?

I, of course, have no problem with THE CONCEPT OF ACTING and will therefore mourn him by watching Beginners for the first time.
Rest in Power Canadian legend. Continue to fight the good fight.

RIP to a LEGEND. He leaves behind a great filmography and a long life (wasn't aware that he was in his early 90s) damn what a baller.
I will watch The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo tonight in his honor.

I'm looking through his filmography and as soon as I see Dragnet (1987), it clicks. Of course, he was the main villain in Dragnet!!! Took me all these decades to realize that

Russell Crowe pays his respects on Twitter, though "fine actor" seems a bit of an understatement to me.

I mean, Crowe's story that follows that initial post pretty well emphasizes his reverence for Plummer. Not really. He tells an entirely too long story about Plummer meeting Peter Finch.I got way more sense of Crowe's reverence for Finch in that retelling (He even managed to drop in the word Genius to describe Finch). Yes he says some nice things about Plummer and says he deserved an Oscar nod for The Insider, but I really don't get any sense of reverence in how he talks about Plummer.

Great actor might have been a touch more effusive about the man's stature in his moment of passing, as opposed to "fine", but to each their own. That's how I'd describe a day player who came on set and remembered their lines

Julie Andrews remembers Christopher Plummer as 'cherished friend' As Christopher Plummer, who died Friday at age 91, is mourned by his family, friends and fans, he's also being remembered by some of his former castmates — including Julie Andrews, who starred with him in 1965's "The Sound of Music." "The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend," she told NBC News in a statement. "I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we shared through the years. My heart and condolences go out to his lovely wife Elaine, and his daughter Amanda." www.today.com/popculture/julie-andrews-remembers-christopher-plummer-cherished-friend-t208248
