I've never seen this, but given the list of guest stars, I think I'll probably have to start!

Oh honey, I started this last night as I was in between shows and I absolutely love it! What a great recommendation!
It's Cédric Klapisch, director of L'Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment / Pot Luck) & the sequals, Russian Dolls and Chinese Puzzle. All great movies.
Season 3 has Jean Dujardin <swoon> which HELENA MARIA is setting me up with... I wonder if she knows Cédric Klapisch and can get me a role in one of his movies?

Just in the first three eps, this show pulls off a depth that takes other comedies seasons to realize. And it's no wonder why so many big names agreed to "cameo" (they're more than that).... they situate them hilariously and meaningfully into the eps. This works on many levels - it's a clever office comedy as well as being about the pressure points of actors/artists - rivalries and facades and aging and ego. Not so different from, of course, their agents. Can't wait to continue.

Gets better as it goes along too from season to season........it's very amusing to me that the 2 TV shows I'm addicted to are Call My Agent and Kirlian Frequency - take THAT US/UK television industries..........pffft.

Netflix can't be overrated with how much they offer - a French show? horror? both ( Marianne) !? Call My Agent gets even better?? Going in, I thought the eps were only 30m! but I'm glad that's not the case, it really gives room to the characters and especially the guest stars ( impatiently awaiting Huppert).

I'm up to Fabrice Luchini's episode and he gets one of the best lines of the series yet -
"Don't knock boredom. It's everywhere, even in our masterpieces."

S2, e4 -RE-watchThis is one of the greatest TV episodes ever - a hilarious Isabelle Adjani with 2 funny Game of Thrones jokes and a shitload of hilarious WAY over the line sexual jokes about brother-sister incest (not kidding, you have to see it to get it), lesbians and straight males ("I made you come 3 times, quickly too ......oh I love it, you talk like a man......that's your gay side" ), an attempt to squash sexual chemistry between a man, his girlfriend and another man ("You'd rather she played a cripple for the Dardennes?" )........a sexy massage etc.......visual homoerotic humor........the commitment of a father to a daughter and a betrayal of everyone else and the separation of a director from his favorite actress which is kind of sexual/familial too......and I'm not even getting to the Depardieu jokes. This is where this show went batshit crazy in the most wonderful and unexpected ways.......

"You'd rather she played a cripple for the Dardennes?" This line killed me. Adjani ep was great and I think the next two might be even better. Juliette Binoche is amazing in her part and gets some of the funniest scenes yet. But before that... Guy Marchand's ep highlights what the show catches so well - how mercurial the industry is, how quickly your friends/collaborators may 'change their minds' - and how self destructive these characters are or become, like Matthias' breaking point, Gabriel's envy, Andreas' impulses. Whole cast steps up in s2. Liliane Rovère as the wonderful old Arlette shines in the Marchand, and at 85y/o btw.... her Chet Baker monologue felt so genuine I had to look it up and yup... it's true. 1955:

The one we've all been waiting for - Huppert's ep, of course - did not let down! "She has the stamina of a Nepalese Sherpa!" Not only shooting two movies at the exact same time, she makes time for pit stops and all the while preparing to play Hamlet ( Hamlet! ). It's a hilarious and perfectly constructed satire of her. So many piled on surprises this ep and her perf is marvelous.

Oh honey, I just started on the second season.
I love it, especially Madam Martel... I so much want to be a French lesbian in Paris!
I think if you are French, this series must be packed with so many in jokes about the actors.

Oh honey, I am so loving Season 2!
I am in love with Assaâd Bouab!
Where else but in France do you get to have a threesome at work! No wonder we see so little of HELENA MARIA
How can Isabelle Adjani look so young and in a good way too ('I am 28, like yourself' had me laughing out loud)? Has she made a pact with the devil?

Still going back and looking at ones I've seen and LMAO - it's so much fun - the Jean Dujardin episode when he says "we could have more forest, more wild animals, more.......... mutilations" for The Deserter 2 Also like how Depardieu and Day-Lewis differ in letting go of the "Method" for a role .........and Gabriel's funny alias for a screen name - they really get a lot of mileage out of his hairy-ness .....

Something I forgot to mention with Huppert and with pretty much all the guest stars and the entire cast.... besides how funny and scathing the show is, it's also a very loving one. It amazes me how between the agents who are virulently workminded and often double-dealing, and the dunked on celebrity behavior, their insecurities and wild egos, the show never feels like it's nosing down on them and doesn't play cute either. S3 finale case in point - the plot says something is broken, but the character realizations are really very touching - so what might've been a downer, isn't. Particularly bc of how well it was building the Mathias/Noémie relationship this whole time. Side bar - Laure Calamy as Noémie is sort of the 7th inning heart of the show - at 45y/o she seems younger, girlish, passionate, too passionate, endearingly dopey, but she's also at times very badass and sharp-minded and always funny. S4 with Franck Dubosc ("This could be your Tchao Pantin" his agent says) and my latest seen episode, José Garcia - these aren't even satires, they are older actors contending with the past for a present place. (The show is most brilliant in its look at aging in the business imo.) Garcia's ep is sweet - "Do what you have to do. I want him un-hiccuped." - and even better if you've seen Après Vous (2003).

Continuing with selective re-watches, how adorable is Monica Belluci's episode? She wants a regular guy who takes out his trash, pays his bill etc. (that's me!), wants her maid to let her in because it's cold ..........and has to learn how to make tea! Also I liked how Andrea dismisses "Natasha" as a potential baby name because she knew a girl at school with a "moustache" and she was called "moustacha"

Oh honeys, I've just finished Season 2 with the Juliette Brioche episode. For me, it was the best episode so far, especially liked how while everyone was at the Cannes party she was in her suite eating Pizza with the Chopard minder and their interplay about her movies. I'm starting Season 3 with Jean Dujardin!!!! You were right about how this show just keeps getting better and better. I think I'll die without it.

I've been recommended this show but the best French show will always be Le Bureau des legendes.

I miss it already and I only just finished. Idk who wouldn't like this show especially us movie-mad. Great characters, great developments, very funny, very touching. Y'know the show is magic - I teared up right during the very last shot, for those who've seen it you know what I mean....it's a beautiful touch. Oh and that Sigourney dance number delivered.

Oh honey, I only have 1 episode left before my life becomes an empty place devoid of all joy. Je suis désolée...
Sigourney looked incredible! If she's had any work it looks very natural... and unlike Nicole she doesn't look like she spends every night immersed in a tank of formaldehyde... and her face is expressive.
I'm not sure how I will live without this... but I did come across this movie.

Rewatched the last 2 episodes ....I don't even watch TV that much and I really think it's, for me, like Fawlty Towers level great or Garth Marenghi's "Darkplace" for my favorite TV-ish things.......and I really love Camille Cottin madly on re-watches - your 2021 BSA Oscar winner (for House of Gucci, calling it a year in advance dammit!). I love also how many little jokes are unexplained like weird stuff like Sigourney Weaver saying "I have to go change" and she comes back in all power red
