I think Ana de Armas's performance has greater potential and is a riskier proposition that could pay off majorly (Joyce Carol Oates's novel is spectacular and if she can stick the landing on it, it could be a career-defining performance). Stewart I think will have the easier path, but as much as I like the craftspeople working around her, I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for her.

Well, I dunno - I already said in the Stewart thread that she has zero acting technique (like Winger and Lawrence) and has to play to her natural abilities - she's at a big disadvantage but with a director who can help - and that has fnck all to do about the accent........the accent is the least of her problems, I'd be more worried about her posture and stuff But De Armas could play Marilyn ON a technical level and Marilyn is the far more interesting character - a woman wanted by all, but wanted by no one, an actress in name but who ached that she couldn't be a better one, famous with a name that is not her name........ married to an athlete and an artist - everything in her life is at a halfway point like that. Doesn't mean it'll be good or a better performance but she has a ton more of things in her favor to give a better performance....

Ana De Armas.
I feel that even though Michelle Williams gave an Oscar nominated turn as Marilyn Monroe not long ago, Williams never really generated the raw sex appeal of Monroe that was the core of her success. So even though well acted, Williams could never give a truly definitive turn as Monroe. Williams always came off more "cute" than purely sexy.
De Armas has the raw sex appeal to do that element of Monroe justice, and it's a fairly important element for Monroe.

Ana. I think she can deliver 100% as Monroe.

Stewart as Princess Diana sounds like a trainwreck. AdA could be good or at least alright as Marilyn.

Williams was miscast. Ana De Armas, aside from the fact that she's Cuban, is perfect for the role.

Stewart is gonna be laughable, so de Armas by default.
