I’m really coming around to Mulligan winning. That would be a dream but I don't wanna get my hopes up.

I still feel really good about Mulligan. I've written elsewhere about my thoughts on her chances, but to piggyback off of them, she's surging forward in the critics and as of this writing, she just tied McDormand for prizes won (including three in one day). I think as long as she's not a solo nominee, it's hers for the taking.

Since she was robbed in 2009, I can see them giving Mulligan a make-up win. (Not implying the make-up win isn't deserving tho, as I haven't seen her film)

I don’t see anyone but Viola Davis winning.

Really insulting to MsMovieStar that she's lumped in under "other" and not an option all on her own.

right now at least it seems competitive. I'm leaning Davis but we really won't know until the GGs.

If you at look at the Best Actress winners in the last 10 years, the majority were not the critics favorite.

Carey Mulligan who seems most likely to win the GG, SAG and BAFTA and... so on. Also could see Riz winning next to her - the youngs.

I really hope it's between Kirby and Mulligan but they are all great.

I picked Carey after Sundance but not sure right now. I would be okay with either Carey win or Viola win. However, I lean towards Viola cause Halle as the sole black best actress winner rubs me the wrong way.

Still thinking it's Davis, no matter how weird this upcoming potential win seems to be.

Carey Mulligan seems the clear favorite to me. Viola Davis can't play the overdue card anymore, and her movie isn't popular enough to pull Best Actor and Actress wins, so if Boseman wins, she probably won't. Plus, Mulligan's role and movie were pretty much tailor-made for this day and age.

Her film is indie, not mainstream and he's never really been a big name Hollywood actress.
Davis a great campaigner and a Hollywood insider. AMPAS just gave Zellweger a 2nd Oscar after 4 nods. Davis will have also have 4 nods and is way more respected.
The last time a film won Actor and Actress was As Good As It Gets. MRBB isn't any less popular than that. And Davis is surely more popular than Helen Hunt.
I agree that Mulligan isn’t the clear favorite but her film is more mainstream than MRBB. And sorry but MRBB is WAY less popular than As Good as it Gets was.

I didn't mean that Mulligan was undeniable, by any means. It's possible Davis or someone else entire wins. No one is locked in any race yet.
Also, As Good As It Gets was a MASSIVE hit, winning more than $300 million worldwide- and that's not adjusted to inflation- and without Titanic in the race, it would have more than a decent chance of winning Best Picture. Comparing it to Ma Rainey's is just non-sense.
