I never recommend animated shows, mainly because I don't really watch that many these days.
But I will make an exception for Blood Of Zeus, a terrific reimagination of Greek Mythology into a Game Of Thrones type drama, where super-powered Greek gods interfere with humanity and battle against each other and even darker forces.
This is adult animation, skillfully and slickly done like a Japanese anime, but without the exaggerated proportions (like eyes) that you often get in that animation style. The fight and battle scenes are astonishing.
The story follows Heron, a half-human demi-god who is one of many bastard children fathered by Zeus. Heron has to come to terms with his heritage and fight against the leader of an Army of Demons named Seraphim. Along the way, Heron finds his own group of allies and must also fight against Gods. Some of the most interesting representations of Greek Gods I've seen in any visual media (including live action). By far the most interesting version of Hera I've ever seen. Others like Hermes and Ares also stand out.
Very complex, well written scripts that could have worked strongly in live-action, and comes in at 8 tight episodes. And fantastic voice acting from a very accomplished cast including Jason O' Mara, Jessica Henwick, Claudia Christian, Elias Toufexis.
I very much enjoyed this show, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone partial to Greek Mythology or who wants an adult fantasy show fix (and doesn't want to waste their time on something like The Witcher ). It has also been greenlit for a 2nd season, so more adventures are coming.
