This came across my mind because of Into The Labyrinth (2020) - mostly a distasteful botch but with a corker of an ending imo - streaming for 2 months now (!), I'm the only one on here who reviewed it (in the Dustin Hoffman Birthday thread).........alrighty then . This movie stars 2 great actors (Hoffman & Toni Servillo) - though they mostly occupy 2 different halves.......what are some films you'd recommend that are like this? It can be any gender - male/male, female/female, male/female......just 2 great stars interacting across language. @tyler - any hidden gems here?

The first that comes to mind is István Szabó’s ‘Meeting Venus’ - a very fun and sexy performance from Glenn Close (she plays a Swedish opera star!).

One of the odder ones Burt Reynolds & Cstherine Deneuve in Hustle (1975)........and he should keep his man-whore mouth off her goddess lips

Another one with Deneuve - with Jack Lemmon in April Fools (1969) - an underrated film I think.....

Gina Lollobrigida and Ralph Richardson in the forgotten British thriller Woman of Straw. Great pick! Very underseen nowadays which is a shame because some crime/detective fans would love it........sort of sub-Hitchcock film but a pretty good one. When Connery passed away I don't think there was anyone who brought this up at all iirc........Ralph Richardson is a droll delight in this movie too.

The Innocents with Dirty Hands - Romy Schneider and Rod Steiger One of the first movies that came to mind for me, oddly enough. Idk if I'd recommend it outside Chabrol fans, it's a bit choppily made - though tensely acted, with a downright unforgettable ending shot imo.

Oh honey, Jodie Foster suddenly and unexpectedly popping up in Jean Jeunet's A Very Long Engagement (2004). Her French sounded exceptional as she wasn't dubbed.
