Either Denzel is going to put himself in two more August Wilson films which Netflix are also financing, or Stuber has basically given Denzel a blank check to bring next 2 non-August Wilson starring projects to them to finance. I wonder if that is why Denzel dropped out of the Julia Roberts Netflix film, Leave The World Behind. To not extend his commitment to starring in films with Netflix. If he's got himself a 2 film commitment with Netflix as part of the deal for them to fully finance the August Wilson cycle. So maybe for example, Denzel can bring the project he wanted to make with Paul Thomas Anderson to Netflix, and get a nice big budget and payday for Anderson, with creative control. It'll be interesting to find out what is in the works. Stuber said in an interview last year that his dream was to get Daniel Day-Lewis and Denzel in a movie together, so I'd imagine financing Denzel in a PTA project and maybe trying to lure DDL out of retirement is on his agenda.

Maybe we can have all of this in one movie. DDL + Denzel directed by PTA. I don't think it's super far-fetched, in the sense that someone like Stuber is actually in the position to make it happen. He's already got Denzel to commit to starring in some Netflix projects. I'm sure he's aware that Denzel and PTA are trying to get a project off the ground, and if there's a project that might lure DDL out of retirement, another film with PTA and the opportunity to lock horns with Denzel might just do the trick. Not to mention, Stuber would probably give DDL the biggest payday of his career just to achieve his dream. Not saying it'll happen, but with someone of Stuber's reach and power trying to make it happen, it's possible. But even if DDL isn't ready to come back, I do believe Stuber would fund the Denzel/PTA project.

Actually, it makes me wonder if that recent sighting of Bradley Cooper with DDL ( and Cooper just did Maestro with Netflix) is connected with Stuber's stated intent to get DDL out of retirement and into a Netflix project (preferably with Denzel).
It'd actually be quite clever of Stuber to send out emissaries like Cooper to try and get DDL interested in working again, particularly with Netflix.

Plus Cooper did just do a small (but critical) supporting role for PTA.

Yeah that pic gave me vibes of when Leo and Tobey took DDL for a stroll to talk him into GoNY. But I would think Cooper's more likely courting him to act in a movie directed by Cooper for Netflix, or for a role as the mob kingpin in Spielberg's Bullitt.

Achieving his dream would be great news for a lot of us.

If Scott Stuber is involved, getting DDL's involvement in any Netflix project first (even one directed by Cooper) is a big win and a starting point to getting him in his dream project with Denzel. Stuber would just need to build that Netflix relationship with DDL first, and Cooper would be one way to do it.

Interesting news. I admire Stuber's persistence, he's been trying to get Denzel to do a film with Netflix for years and throwing a whole bunch of money at him. If I had to guess its probably non-August Wilson films Denzel is going to do with Netflix. Like you said maybe these are two projects where he can work with the auteurs he wants to collaborate with where they can get a nice production budget, creative control, and a good payday. Hell two of the directors he's worked with in the past, Joel Coen and Spike Lee have done films for Netflix so it could be them or others. Great possibilities.

The GOAT American Football Player/Quarterback Tom Brady reenacts a scene from Remember The Titans with the GOAT actor for The Lets Go podcast.
Also, looks like this with be Denzel's Gladiator 2 look, with the grey goatee.

Also, looks like this with be Denzel's Gladiator 2 look, with the grey goatee. Such a cool episode, just listened to it. Interesting listen because Denzel offered somewhat of a rare glimpse into his acting process/method and how he feels at the Oscars..lol. Interesting to hear him admit he's not very talkative, jokey, or a "nice guy" on set. We've all heard the stories about how he is on set (even Ridley admitted recently in the Deadline interview Denzel can be in a bad mood sometimes). He's about his business and in the mindset to do his job/role. Also cool to see how they could relate to each other even coming from different worlds because of their background, work ethic, and going through the grind to earn the longevity, excellence, and success they both enjoyed over their careers. Also fun to see them re-enact the Remember the Titans scene..lol. You can tell how much Denzel admires Tom with how outgoing and fun he was on this and picking his brain on the NFL currently. Also, interesting look he'll have for Gladiator 2. Will be curious to see what vocal inflection he goes far in this role since he's playing a rich ex-gladiator? Probably a spin on his Shakesperian vocal inflection he uses.

Denzel "no classic comedies" Washington just had his Romantic Christmas Comedy, The Preacher's Wife named one of the 30 Best Christmas Movies Of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine. Ranked #25.
The GOAT has done everything to a high level. Including comedy.

PTA, Alfonso, Steve: you know the assignment. Work it out amongst yourselves to figure out the shooting schedule, but get this man his late-career auteur run.

The actor Laurence Fox, is regarded as a bit of a controversy baiting right-wing, anti-woke figure in the UK these days, but he's legitimately a very successful actor and part of the Fox acting dynasty/family (which includes Edward Fox, Emilia Fox, Freddie Fox, Jared Harris etc).
Always found it weird that so many British actors (and audiences) rate Denzel this highly, but he's persona non grata at BAFTA.

The thing is though is that Laurence and these other actors stan too hard for him. I find it amusing.

These silly actors and their over-the-top Denzel stanning. They really should hold back on that kind of talk. People might get offended.

Denzel get's a Best Actor nomination for The Equalizer 3 from the NAACP awards. Pretty sure the win will be between Oscar nominees Jeffrey Wright and Colman Domingo.

The GOAT may be back on Broadway in 2025 to play Othello, according to Roger Friedman.

A shame Denzel was never Othello on film. Him doing it in his 90's prime with Branagh directing, playing Iago, and giving it his Henry V/Hamlet epic treatment could have been great stuff.
There's a bunch of actors I'd rather see play Iago than those two but between the two of them I still much prefer Driver who is usually at least dependable. Gyllenhaal as Iago sounds like so much fail.
