To be honest It's neither here nor there for me. I already knew she was extremely highly regarded by her home Academy because she's won 6 acting awards and recieved 14 nominations.from them, so it's not exactly a revelation that they would ask her to serve in a senior role at any point. Good for her I guess, but if I'm being honest, I think she's plenty busy in her career at the moment, and it could be a distraction from the work I'm interested in. But the woman knows how to wear multiple hats without seeming to lose focus, so she should be fine. Crowe, I understand taking on the role, as he doesn't have nearly as much on his plate career-wise as Kidman (who runs a very successful and expanding production company)

Judy Davis seems the more obvious choice, especially since Kidman spends the majority of her time in the US...

Judy Davis seems the more obvious choice, especially since Kidman spends the majority of her time in the US... Kidman brings a lot of buisness and international productions to Australia, which likely played a part in AACTA's decision. She's currently filming Nine Perfect Strangers in New South Wales in Australia , a mini-series for Hulu for her production company. That shoot alone brings somewhere in the region of 100 million Australian dollars to the local economy and creates jobs for Australian film and TV crew. The production is only in Australia because Kidman wants it to be, and she's clearly doing it to support the Australian film/TV economy. Kidman has that kind of power to directly support the Australian film and TV economy and infrastructure, and is actively doing it. Davis doesn't have that kind of practical influence.

Also, Kidman is the more exciting flashy name, one that like every Aussie has heard of. No one here under the age of like 50 knows who Judy Davis is.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......gee I hope it doesn't distract Russell Crowe from giving us many great performances like you know he hasn't done in the last 15+ years. I'd suspect he would just sit around the AACTA offices and bore everyone with stories about how great he once was in 1999/2000......hope there's donuts.
