For La vita davanti a sé/The Life Ahead Directed by her own son for this netflix movie. Before Covid-19 had zero chances, but now, she could be nominated and win for this. Should be her third Oscar nom (She also received an Honorary Oscar).-

No, but hopefully it will be a great performance to watch regardless.

Having just seen the movie, I don't think she could. But she could definitely score a nod.

A new version of Madame Rosa, previously made in 1977 with Simone Signoret, is a tears jekers movie, well directed by (but uninspirated) Carlo Ponti, with great cinematography, bad visual effects, and mesmering performance by all cast specially the both actors, the newcomer Ibrahima Gueye and Sophia Loren, the best thing of the film. Zero Diva, totally desglamourised, something that the Academy loves.-
In other years, this should be another Netflix movie of the week, but because the pandemic, should not be strange if Loren and the Song composed Diane Warren will be Oscar campaigned by Netflix, after all Loren is the last major working worldwide star of the Golden Age (the 50s).-

She'd have a better chance in supporting.

Possibly! I’m predicting a nom, but I think Netflix are going to concentrate on getting Viola Davis the win instead though.
Davis McDormand Day Loren Winslet

I wish Netflix would focus on her in the supporting category. She'd really have some serious chances there. For a nod I mean.
But yes, it would be a bit of a category fraud.
