Lost Highway making it is pretty cool. Just recently saw it. Would have been on my ballot if I'd seen it in time. Rushmore should have been way higher. Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story and Three Colors: Blue could have been a little higher too. Three Colors: Red was about right.
Not surprised it made it but Titanic can still fuck off.
Half surprised but glad that Fight Club made it too.

#16The Truman Show (Peter Weir, 1998) urbanpatrician says: Good concept. Always surprised Andrew Niccol didn't become a more talented writer later on based on the promise he showed with this screenplay.232 points. 23 ballots. Highest placing #5 (on 1 person's list)

#15Magnolia (Paul Thomas Anderson, 1999)
urbanpatrician says: Kinda of a campy piece of shit. Only movie ranked at a pretty high spot that I hate. Just toss it, and move on.248 points. 20 ballots. Highest placing #1 (on 2 people's lists)

#14The Thin Red Line (Terrence Malick, 1998) urbanpatrician says: A kind of a war portrait with a paradisiacal backdrop. I can see an argument for its placing here, maybe a bit high but whatever doesn't matter.274 points. 18 ballots. Highest placing #1 (on 1 person's list)

Wow, way too low for Boogie Nights. I figure Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Fargo, Unforgiven and Silence of the Lambs for the top five. Se7en might get in.

Jurassic Park (Steven Spielberg, 1993) urbanpatrician says: Well, time has certainly done a good number on this movie. 15 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if it missed a Top 100 of the 90s, and now it's all the way up to 12. Perfectly fun dinosaur family film.279 points. 17 ballots. Highest placing #1 (on 2 people's lists)

#11The Shawshank Redemption (Frank Darabont, 1994) urbanpatrician says: I like it fine. Unlike some people, I rarely think or talk about it tho. Just watch it whenever I can, enjoy it, and move on is basically my experience with it.307 points. 16 ballots. Highest placing #2 (on 4 people's lists)

The Top 10 will run in longer increments than before. Possibly 8/10 minutes per entry. Gives people more time to catch their breath for the finale.

#10Eyes Wide Shut (Stanley Kubrick, 1999) urbanpatrician says: Another film which time has done well for. In the early 00s, I rarely see anyone rank it this high. A few Kubrick die-hards and some psuedo film intellectual type guys. I think it's...... fine and watchable, but I don't see anything that impressive. Those guys in those grim orgy suits always felt like something out of the catalogue of the wtf to me tho. Like damn... random310 points. 19 ballots. Highest placing #1 (on 2 people's lists)

L.A. Confidential (Curtis Hanson, 1997) urbanpatrician says: My ideal type of movie. That tension induced world of L.A., those characters, that exciting plot, just feeds my complete orgasmic delight. It's truly a consummate classic. 328 points. 20 ballots. Highest placing #2 (on 5 people's lists)

#8Se7en (David Fincher, 1995)
urbanpatrician says: A classic. Can't argue with a Top 10 where I love 6 films, and maybe love another.... which would make 7.

#8Se7en (David Fincher, 1995)
Script is so well written and thought out that it could end the opposite way ( not killing Spacey ) and it still would work......the best mainstream movie of '95 .....along with an even greater cop movie which may be coming up......

Whoa didn't see that coming. I thought it had a good chance at being in the top 3. Given the insanely high placement for Zodiac and The Social Network, you'd expect that too. Don't tell me the Zodiac/The Social Network guys pay less attention to Se7en because it's older.

#7Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood, 1992) urbanpatrician says: Love this kind of song of the days of our lives, featuring a protagonist who has long outlived his welcome given his line of work. But that's the beauty of this film, it's truly about the hand that life deals you. Sometimes unfair, but in this case, more than fair.

#7Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood, 1992)
#2 on my list.........could easily be number one......as perfect a Western as has been made and everything about it feels definitive.........and you could actually make several films about the supporting characters in this movie too

Unforgiven was my #1 and L.A. Confidential my #2 so nice to see them in the top 10 but obviously I feel they should be higher.
