The Wolf of Wall Street is the only time where I felt like he absolutely nailed a performance so thoroughly that I don't think about other actors who could've been better for the role, or at least as good in the part, and while I've liked him a great deal in other things (The Revenant, Django Unchained, even The Departed), this is the performance that should define him.

WoWS and Once Upon A Time.. are like GOAT level performances. The rest range from very good (The Revenant, Django, Shutter Island) to absolute garbage (Rev Road).

The most overrated actor of all time with the cringiest fanbase, but he was good in The Revenant and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

WoWS............and let's take a minute to fellate this guy with a stupid/fun stat.........if he gets an Oscar nomination for his next film that will be his 4th consecutive, uninterrupted nomination. No male has ever had that streak as far as I can tell (?)........ At 3 nods in a row - going by the release date - he's tied with Pacino (Serpico - Dog Day Afternoon), Brando (Streetcar Named Desire - Julius Caesar)

At 3 nods in a row - going by the release date - he's tied with Hanks (Philadelphia - Apollo 13), Pacino (Serpico - Dog Day Afternoon), Brando (Streetcar Named Desire - Julius Caesar) Hanks never got an Oscar nomination for Apollo 13, not even a Globe nom. But I agree about the rest.

The Wolf of Wall Street was better than he ever did, up until last year.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, is where I don't see DiCaprio, I see Rick f-cking Dalton.
Haven't seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape though.

For my money it's Blood Diamond. Top three being that, The Wolf of Wall Street and What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

1. The Wolf of Wall Street 2. The Aviator 3. The Revenant 4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood 5. The Departed
But I could change my mind and do another top 5.
Btw, I'm shocked no one voted "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" yet.
Some people consider it to be still his greatest acting ever.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Wolf of Wall Street are head and shoulders above the rest for me, with a nod to the latter.

If he makes the new Adam McKay film, as he's rumored to do it, (nothing official or confirmed) and KOTFM with Scorsese, i'll probably have to update this list in a couple of years.

Blood Diamond and Revolutionary Road (tie)
Blood Diamond because he mixes movie star charisma, action chops, character acting work (the accent), his trademark emotional intensity (see the "God left this place a long time ago" scene as well as his last scenes with Djimon and with Connelly), and a great character arc. It's a revelatory performance.
Revolutionary Road is simply a virtuosic turn. Pretty much the best "actor's studio" film performance besides Leigh in Streetcar. DiCaprio shows he can modulate every scene with freakish control when the material is there.

Very close between Wall Street and Hollywood. DiCaprio is at his best when he's able to fully flex his comedic chops while still able to explore some of the dramatic depth of his characters, and both of these leading roles felt tailor-made for him. After a re-watch, I think I'll give the edge to Rick Dalton, where he's as hilarious as he is heartbreaking.
