Probably right up there with Pacino or De Niro and Beatles or Stones. Yeah I know you want to vote pie but cheesecake is a cake - remember that - (not cheesecake though, who is a person ) .........although some people actually call cheesecake a pie. Whatever - let's not overthink this people! Cake vs. Pie - what sayeth thee?

Mousse cake is wonderful. Normal cakes are awful. I'm voting for a third party, seeing as how a mousse cake is really much more of a mousse.

Cake icing is gross. Don't care for pie unless it's apple but apple pie is a lot better than any cake I ever had.

I used to be more of a cake person, but I've found myself eating more pie within the last few years (maybe I should change my username!), specifically my holy trifecta of key lime, pumpkin, and chocolate cream - the latter two mostly around the holidays. Given the choice between any of those three and cake, I'd probably choose pie (though maybe not if there's key lime cheesecake involved!). But those three are really the only kinds of pie I go back to again and again, so I suppose I'm still more omnivorous when it comes to cake, though I've never really cared for carrot cake or anything with actual fruit in it (fruit and dessert don't go together for me, I'm weird).

Definitely pie but you're right that cheesecake makes a strong argument for cake

The pie of Roth? I never understood the difference btw.

But yeah, i believe it's a pretty common bakers trick, but it makes the crusts extra flaky.

If cheesecake counts it is definitely cake for me. Not huge on dessert overall but if I want it it is generally classic NY cheesecake or ice cream. I like generic birthday/wedding cake and warm apple pie about the same so it would have been a wash if cheesecake didn't count for the purposes of the poll (really it seems like a separate category despite "cake" being in the name to me personally)

Almost changed my vote to pie, but then pretty much had a Cinema Paradiso moment of all the great cakes I've had, tres leches etc. You know just what to do with your pies....

Something like The Pie of Neutron would obviously make more sense:
