Damn, looks good! Didn't even know this existed. Kaluuya looks Oscar worthy.
EDIT: Oh yeah, this is the film previously known as "Jesus is My Homeboy".

I have high hopes for Kaluuya, Stanfield and Plemons, all of whom I consider among the very best of their age group.

This looks incredible. Really cool seeing Kaluuya and Stanfield together after Get Out and they both look terrific here, especially Kaluuya. I’m also thrilled seeing Jesse Plemons everywhere. I’ve been a fan of his since Friday Night Lights and it’s great he’s not being typecast.
Also Fred Hampton’s story is super interesting and absolutely worth telling. Definitely one of my most hyped films of the year(?) now!

Kaluuya is an incredible actor and this looks like it could be his best role to date. Also rooting for Stanfield and Plemons big time.

Well, I guess after this it will be two-time Oscar nominee. When is this released?

World of Reel one of the more reliable sites for reviews has seen it praises the performances...... The story itself isn’t anything new, we’ve had countless dramas like ‘Judas’ over the last 100 years of movies, from “White Heat,” and “The Departed,” to “American Gangster,” and “Donnie Brasco,” the latter which ‘Judas’ most closely resembles — almost every one of these mentioned films has the informant eventually turning into a conflicted mess and wondering if he is doing the right thing.
The moral dilemma of Stanfield’s O’Neal is meant to be conflict at the heart of ‘Judas,’ but its outcome gets revealed in the film’s opening, stripping away any of the tension needed to sustain our unabated attention throughout this overlong film. www.worldofreel.com/blog/2021/1/best-picture

The Departed meets Donnie Brasco meets American Gangster??
I'm in for any movie that rips off (even in a mediocre way) these movies.

I think Best Supporting Actor is probably going to be Daniel Kaayula vs Sacha Baron Cohen.

^ Always a signal for our bullshit detectors when you read things that go out of their way to say a movie set 50 years ago feels "more now" imo.......more than movies that are actually set right now .......that rarely happens anyway........I'm sure this is good, can't wait to see it, but if this is good it better feel more like the 1960s rather than the 2020s. Serve your setting first because that nonsense was tiresome with Trial of The Chicago 7 talk - and that worked because it looked and felt like ~1968 and it failed when it seemed like it was 2020 looking back and revising what ~1968 was like....

So Kaluuya is coming for that Oscar. But I wonder if Stanfield might have a shot at the 5th spot?

Especially since he's been closer to a nod than Stanfield ever was with BlackKKlansman. Also, people are starting to talk about Dominique Fishback in this movie as well as a potential supporting actress contender. Stanfield feels like he could easily be swallowed up by the hype of his supporting players.

Judas, meanwhile, is poised to be a massive film with a frontrunner in an acting category, and it's not like Stanfield's an unknown. He's been around an awful long time and has been on the cusp for an awards breakout for a while. But agree to disagree, because I don't feel much like debating this topic.
