Hmmmmmm: www.racheljyoder.com/nightbitch NIGHTBITCH is a darkly-comic novel about motherhood, rage, and the female self.
In Nightbitch, an unnamed woman and former artist, thrust into stay-at-home domesticity after the birth of her son, becomes worried she’s turning into a dog. Her husband, who travels for work five days a week, easily dismisses her fears from hotel rooms. Meanwhile, the mother is forced to contend with the very real physical manifestations of her solitary anxiety, with only her two-year-old son for company.
As her symptoms intensify, she struggles to keep her alter-canine-identity secret. Finally jolted to action after an impulsive and disastrous encounter with the family cat, she seeks a cure for her condition in an herbal multi-level marketing scheme, a group of mommies all inexplicably named Jen, and Wanda White, a mysterious academic specializing in “mythical ethnography.”

Not overly excited about this based on that plot description, but I could be swayed by a talented creative team for this or if I like the book. We’ll see.

Damn Amy's hot in the sparkly dress in the OP......
Anyway, I've thought this sounded like a trainwreck the entire time I've heard of it but would love it if Amy got another classic and finally won the big one so I will give it a shot.

an Oscar nominee this movie ain't, but I hope people enjoy it. The book was a bit polarizing but Heller is a more than competent writer/director. Amy really needs a win.

I think Adams can win this Oscar.
Her movies from 2016-2023 were directed by Tom Ford, David O Russell, Zack Synder, Ron Howard, and Adam McKay. For the most part people who arent really well liked here.
Maybe the general film buff opinion are that they're all hacks too. Letterboxd guys surely arent gonna wax poetic about any of these people. Maybe Zack Synder for shallow reasons but for the most part when she started being in movies with guys who are hated (The Fighter)...it seems like she was never winning just by association to people who aren't liked.
I know J Law won in an O Russell movie. But that pathetic year nobody cares anymore about any of the nominees (Lawrence is the only even talked about anymore) except Riva maybe but she wasnt gonna get the steam. And in 2010 Russell hasnt garnered the reputation of post American Hustle... yet. And Howard was well past his prime by 2020.
This is my argument on why Adams will win the Oscar, might end up being a season long grind between her and Ronan tho.

We didn't think Poor Things was an Oscar movie either.
Future Academy Award winner Amy Adams.

^ Because if Emma Stone is this era's Diane Keaton, Amy Adams is the new Glenn Close I've decided

I'm not expecting any Oscar buzz for this. I just hope this is not another dud from her. She needs a hit film.
