Loved her in everything I've seen her in, especially in Gone with the Wind. She had such a kind and conforting face / presence.
RIP

Joanne Woodward (The Three Faces of Eve, 1957) is now the "oldest" Best Actress winner, in that all the ones who won before her have already passed away.

This sounds crazy to say this about someone, who was 104, but it somehow surprises me really. Olivia had survived (almost) all their film partners of the golden age by so many years and with her being out of the public for such a long time she has build up a mysterious aura around her that I was convinced she would get 120 years old...
I think you can say this is the day when not only Olivia de Havilland, but the Golden Era of Hollywood finally died.
RIP

Interesting how almost nobody (incl. me) thinks Angela Lansbury was a part of the Hollywood golden era... Maybe bc she lacks some legendary roles, maybe bc she started acting in the 40s...
I'll say it once again, to me this era will die once Eva Marie Saint dies.

People tend to forget Sidney Poitier is these "who is still alive..." discussions. Anyway, RIP Olivia de Havilland, a wonderful actress. I will try to rewatch her oscar winning turn in The Heiress this week.
