Hmm...I think Audrey Hepburn is absolutely far more iconic for Breakfast At Tiffany's than Roman Holiday.I'd even put her in My Fair Lady over Roman Holiday. But Holly Golightly has to be her signature role and movie. But we match on most of them.

But you're right about them being more iconic.

Funnily enough, one could argue that Elizabeth Taylor's most iconic role is actually Cleopatra by a distance , even though it's not really movie that's exactly beloved in retrospect. But everyone knows her for playing that role, even if they haven't even seen the movie.

Yeah, being honest, I'd change my vote for Taylor to Cleopatra if we were talking her most iconic film/role in general terms. Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? is more iconic with hardcore cinephiles and Oscar Watchers, but Cleopatra is so much more iconic for general audiences.

Oh honey, yes, Ava is definitely The Barefoot Contessa or Pandora...
You forgot Lana! Ava would be furious as they were best friends. (Postman Always Rings Twice, for Lana) But if you include Lana, you'll have to include Hedy...

Oh honey, I only included women who made it onto the American Film Institute's Greatest Stars of All Time list. You know Ava was also great friends with her Gracie Bird - ever since Mogambo - wild nights in Rome and the south of France, honey - she was also a frequent guest of the Grimaldis in Monaco.

Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? is more iconic with hardcore cinephiles and Oscar Watchers, but Cleopatra is so much more iconic for general audiences. Cleopatra also fits because it's her most "movie star performance" ever, and audiences tend to gravitate towards that stuff the most. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe is considered great, but it's seen as more of a physical / character transformation role, and to your average moviegoer it's probably viewed as a lot harder to watch, even with a much shorter running-time.

Casablanca The Night of the Iguana (probably just because it's my favourite though, I'm really not sure about one signature role for her) Gilda Roman Holiday Rear Window Two Women Some Like It Hot Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (though it could also be Cat on the Hot Tin Roof)

The Night of the Iguana (probably just because it's my favourite though, I'm really not sure about one signature role for her) I think it's definitely 'The Barefoot Contessa.' When her home in London received a blue plaque from the English Heritage Society, here's what was written on their website: "In 1954 she created what was to become her signature performance: Maria Vargas in The Barefoot Contessa. The role cemented her reputation as one of Hollywood’s most legendary stars..." English Heritage

English HeritageIt probably fits better in the way that "The Night of Iguana" isn't even "her" film, but Richard Burton's, while Ava shares the limelight with Bogie in "Barefoot Contessa". It's probably a subliminal "antipathy" against it or better a "sympathy" towards "Iguana", since I love that film, while I don't care for "Contessa" at all.
