Which of these British charmbombs do you prefer as an actor? Do you have a preference looks-wise?
Edit: Mark Darcy = COLIN FIRTH Daniel Cleaver = HUGH GRANT

I like Firth, but I think Grant is more versatile.
Looks wise, I wouldn’t kick Firth out of my bed for eating crackers, but again Grant would get my vote.

Firth is legit great on the P&P miniseries and really good in King's Speech too. Never seen Grant do anything on that level, he just seems like he's always doing his rom-com persona, even in Sense and Sensibility.

I love Grant. Maybe Firth is more talented but I still prefer Grant.

Watch his last three projects - "A Very English Scandal", "Paddington 2" and "The Gentlemen" back to back and say that again.

Grant, by far. Unlike Firth, he's never boring and also he's more versatile.

Grant, by far. Unlike Firth, he's never boring and also he's more versatile. I've always thought the exact opposite, actually 😹 Yeah,I've always enjoyed some of Grant's performances but as far as I'm concerned, it's a no brainer : TEAM FIRTH all the way Looks wise : Firth is more handsome but Grant has more sex appeal.

Love them both but I've been more impressed by Firth's dramatic chops.

Grant. Firth may have the best performance between them with A Single Man, but overall I find the former more versatile and interesting to watch given the right material. Firth can be stuffy.

Had you asked me 15 years ago I'd have said Grant. But Firth's performance in The King's Speech is nearly an all-timer and Grant never could come even close to this territory. He also had some other strong performances, most of all his great turn in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which I'd take over any of Grant's work as well. So yeah, easily Firth for me.

Firth every day and twice on Sundays. With that said, Grant has been so fun the last decade with Cloud Atlas and especially Paddington 2.

I do like Firth a lot, and the man is kind of a legend in his own way, and maybe, maybe the technically better actor, but I don't give a fuck about that. Hugh Grant is a force of nature. He wins this easily.

Anything Firth can do, I think Grant can do just as well. Whereas I don't quite think the opposite is true.
But hey, if Firth wants to play a cannibal tribesman in his next movie, ball's in his court.

Grant.
He was seen as more of a lightweight at the peak of his movie career, because he only seemed to excel at Rom-Coms, but the accumulated skill level in the later years of his career demonstrate that he is a skilled dramatic actor with a terrific range.
I do agree with whomever said that he can probably do whatever Firth can, but has the added advantage of always being more watchable and charismatic. Firth can be very watchable and even riveting in the right role, but can be boring to watch in a lot of things. Grant is always watchable. And rarely boring.

Same sentiment as others expressed plenty. Hugh Grant has laid rest to any doubts that may have existed about what he can do. Plus, loads of effortless charisma in a way Firth does not always command due to his regular British stuffiness.

Grant. Firth evolved later on, but his repetitiveness and stiffness for so much of his career is a major demerit.

As an actor, Grant. It's a shame he never got the same awards recognition as Firth, because when he's good, he's MVP-good / Oscar-worthy good. And he also has a better filmography. Lookswise, it's Firth, but not by far.

I think both are very good. Colin Firth’s performance in A Single Man trumps most of Grant’s work, but I find myself more excited by Grant nowadays.

I find Firth to be a buggy, joyless actor. I almost always like Hugh Grant especially over the last five-ish years (A Very English Scandal stands above either's all). But I'll admit....... if we wanna match up their recent HBO minis....... Firth far out-performs Hugh's Undoing perf which are similar roles in what they have to conceal/convey.
