I saw this video that took me waaaaay back. I swear, I haven't thought about that game for over a decade, but I can hear the voice like it was yesterday. "Help me, help me!"
Dang, that game was awesome.
Uh, anyway. Favorite board games?

When I was younger I was a big fan of D&D and Lord Of The Rings strategy battle games. I used to collect miniatures as well. But I haven't played them in years.

Stratego if that counts and of course the original board game "clumps of dirt and rocks" but that may pre-date the average age of this board but is something that was big in my day and was the style at the time......oh what it's only funny when YOU asshats mock my 241 years of age but not when I self-deprecatingly do it first. Grrrrrrrrrr

Grrrrrrrrrr Stratego is awesome, and infinitely modifiable. I've played "3s can move bombs", "dead men can form a bridge on the water," "bomb splash damage," etc. It does keep the game fresh, on top of the spectacular core gameplay.

A big favorite of mine is Gettysburg. A strategic campaign game between two players. I played the 125th anniversary edition, and my dad still has the game. I've never played any of these other campaign games (I understand that this is one of the simplest games of the genre), but I would set weekends aside to try this with my dad.

My sister says that she still has this one and desperately wants to play it because she remembers it being awesome. So do I.

Let me put it this way, I have about 25 different Monopoly boards (ranging from Star Wars and LOTR to The Simpsons to NFL) so obviously this is a favorite of mine. Then of course you have other classics like Risk, Stratego, Axis and Allies, Yahtzee. But then you get to the really nerdy ones (but are sometimes the absolute best ones: ZOMBIES!!! As close to a video game as you're going to get for board games. Each time the game is vastly different because of randomness of board and whatnot: HEROQUEST. As close to an actual D&D campaign as you can get. Shame that this is long since out of print. SPLENDOR. Basically an economy game where you build up wealth to win. Loads of strategy and game is different every time you play. PANDEMIC. This one requires you and your friends to know what the fuck you are doing. Not the easiest game to play, but fun nonetheless. CATAN. Used to be known as Settler of Catan... somewhat of a household name, but not as much as it should be. CHEZ GEEK. Take every late night college comedy movie, turn it into a card game... and you get Chez Geek. I can't tell you how many games of this I have played over the years with my friends. MUNCHKIN. Another card game that has endless replayability. This is also fairly well known, but deserves a mention. Lots of nods to DnD and whatnot. Plus, there are so many different varieties.

My sister says that she still has this one and desperately wants to play it because she remembers it being awesome. So do I. Okay, after playing this again, it's pretty much the greatest. Confusing because nobody knew the rules, but boy was it wacky. Whirlpool killing is the bomb.

The best game to roleplay. Forget all those Monopoly boards, give me Galaxy Quest clue.

I know kid me LOVED Scene It? and Clue, but it's hard to find anyone who ever wants to play the former with me in my circles because I know far more about movies than my friends lol. I need more movie friends to play with. Nowadays, I mainly play board games easy enough and fun enough for just my girlfriend and I to play. And they're more often than not movie-themed. Our big obsessions lately have been: Die Hard: The Nakatomi Heist- I mean, I'm die-hard Die Hard fan #1, and it's a pretty complex game to learn. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's really fun and feels like a game made for fans of the movie like me. Maybe the one downside is it seems stacked in the advantage of whoever plays as John McClane, but still fun. Thanos Rising - Avengers: Infinity War- A really fun co-op game that has you build up your teams in order to take down Thanos. Pretty easy if you play on the lowest "difficulty" setting, but can kick your ass on higher ones. As someone who loves superhero stuff, but has been pretty disappointed on the whole with the MCU, this is a fun step in the right direction for a superhero fan like me. It: Evil Below- Another co-op game where you team up to take down Pennywise. Can definitely kick your ass until you get the hang of it. Bought this one on a whim for last Halloween to play with my girlfriend's family, and it was really complex to learn at first but became pretty addictive once you got going. This was what pretty much kicked off my addiction to buying/playing movie-themed board games (I never knew so many existed). Other than that, I've often tried to find party games to play with friends (i.e. Cards Against Humanity, Scattergories) or play Jackbox since they're the ones that entertain my friends the most. Only played Risk once (the LOTR version) and it was a lot of fun. Would like to play that more, but hard to convince my girlfriend lol. Pretty bad at Monopoly, I think I've only ever won once in my life and was probably a fluke. Haven't played in many years though. Have wanted to play Betrayal at House on the Hill, USAOPOLY's The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 and most Ravensburger movie-themed games (i.e. Disney Villainous/ Universal Monsters/ Jaws/ Jurassic Park/ Back to the Future). Also theycallmemrfish I always wanted to play Zombies!!! and Pandemic, they both sound like a lot of fun, so glad they've got the Fish Seal of Approval. Also, yeah, Munchkin is super fun once you get the hang of it.

idioticbunny Zombies is super fan and casual (once you learn the rules and basic strategies) and Pandemic is a great co-op game (though some class cards are way more powerful than others... which is when the whole co-op factor comes in). Definitely recommend Zombies because you can play with only two people and still have fun... the only downfall is that it could be a fairly long game depending on the events that happen. Pandemic really does require a solid group of people who know how to play to win (and even then you only win about half the time).

A longer two-person game actually doesn't sound so bad considering I feel like now that my girlfriend and I have gotten the hang of so many of our board games, they take a lot less time than usual. So maybe I'll give Zombies a go next. Both sound like a lot of fun though.

Just bought this game a little bit ago. It's pretty fun, with simple math but enough of it to keep the game interesting. It's no masterpiece, but everyone has had a good time going through. After we figured out how to break Key to the Kingdom (whirlpool killing can drag the game out until everyone is dead bored), this made for a fun fantasy themed game. It was so satisfying to see that Nobleman I equipped manage to kill a monster, survive, and then get promptly slaughtered when another player took him. Should have stuck with my shop, my dude.
