I've liked him since he broke out in the early 2000s, but is anyone else in awe of his work on Peaky Blinders? As a male leading actor in the TV medium, I feel like it ranks comfortably with GOAT-level work like Gandolfini on The Sopranos and Cranston on Breaking Bad. If anything, it's made his film career of late seem so baffling to me.

Like him very much in Peaky Blinders where he's quite unpredictable and surprising - and in general too and his lack of heat for a film career has been odd. He can do a mood extremely well and very quickly, he doesn't look like everybody else physically and his screen presence is unique too.
He's in the same age range as British guys who are quite more easily cast I guess than him - Hiddleston or Whishaw - yet he seems lost in the shuffle. This is a thing he did where he introduced "Scarecrow" and at about the 2 minute mark it gets particularly interesting. It's not just that he's praising the acting - like big deal who's not going to praise HackPac (um) but rather how he phrases his personal perception of the acting - that reflects on his own work too.
Interesting guy, a baffling career atm definitely.....

What's interesting is how actors/actresses have rallied around Peaky Blinders/Tommy Shelby. You have dudes like Samuel L. Jackson talking about how much he loves the show. I hope Cillian gets a second wind in film like a Mirren or whomever.

I liked him since the beginning but I loved him in Peaky Blinders!! His mannerisms, his presence, his line delivery, everything is just spot on!!!
I can't remember any CM movies after the big success of Blinders (that I've watched, I mean) but I'm very curious how he's not one of the hottest names of Hollywood in the last 4-5 years...
edit: Yeah, ok, there is Dunkirk but still...

"Red Eye" deserves a mention here.

Yeah he's awesome in Peaky Blinders. Definitely has a commanding screen presence on that show. My favorite role of his is still Scarecrow in Batman Begins. He was brilliant in that role. Gave me chills the way he said "the Batman" I was also looking forward to seeing him in A Quiet Place 2 but it looks like I'll have to wait awhile to see him in that one.

I think Peaky Blinders has rather limited what film roles he's been able to take for the past seven years. Each season maybe takes 5 - 6 months to film, perhaps more. Plus, he lives in Dublin and has kids.
