Silent Light is kinda eh and feels like him trying to hard to be conventionally beautiful, but Post Tenebras Lux is much more successful at this and accurately paints a martelian portrait of decay and mexican class warfare while having a much more in-tune sense of beauty, though i think his masterpiece is Battle in Heaven which could go on my top 200 any day. still need to see Japon - preferably before his latest, which i'm also eagerly awaiting (isn't it finna come out this year??). i know tobias highkey hates PTL lol but what are your thoughts MAR?

I like Silent Light a lot more than Post Tenebras Lux, which just felt totally indulgent to me (some flashes of brilliance aside).

i know tobias highkey hates PTL And I'd back that up any day. I actually thought about watching Silent Light though because I can understand Low German (at least to a decent extend), being from the region where it originated. I can't really say I'm too excited though. Haven't really looked into Battle in Heaven; in this instance I don't know if you liking it makes me more or less likely to also like it because you also like PTL.

I liked "Japon" (very good stuff) and "Silent Light" quite a bit, but I fucked hated "Battle in Heaven". Not a fan of "Post Tenebras Lux" either but that had some neat stuff in it. I kinda think he'd be pretty good with a more comedic movie tbh.
