Wow, didn't expect 1917 to make it to the top 50. Amazing that it did, however. It deserved to.

1917 is a better movie than First, Reformed in the same was a date with cheap hooker is better than finding a deep connection with your soul mate is. Except finding a date with a cheap hooker is a more entertaining film than 1917.......You fncking athesists/agnostics, a plague on all your houses! Something you want to tell us?

Tinker Tailor is criminally low. That movie's a masterpiece y'all.

I hate First Reformed but I'm glad CMBYN made the Top 50. Such a great movie.

Tinker Tailor is 30+ places too low. Dunkirk is a fine film, but too high. This is more or less fair for Arrival. Gone Girl has no place on this list, and I just plain don't like The Revenant, so pleased it isn't any higher. 100 - 51 seem like a lovely dream of better days past at the moment.

Given that it's often maligned round here, I love that Gone Girl made it this high.
Great group in general. Cutting Arrival from my list was very hard, and looking back I'd probably just put it in there.

I guess Arrival, Tinker, and Dunkirk are placed about right. Revenant and Gone Girl are too high if they should even be on the list at all.

Not here for Revenant's placement. But I'm probably in the minority. I seriously dislike that movie.

Great review, Lubezki! I lost my faith in Nolan at the beginning of this decade, and by the time he made the utterly ridiculous Interstellar I was certain he was done for good. The magnificent Dunkirk rekindled my love for his filmmaking style and much of it is due to how far he strayed from his comfort zone, like you mentioned. Glad it made the top 50.
