Since her Oscar win for Judy, I've been combing through her filmography, re-watching her best performances (Bridget Jones, Nurse Betty, Jerry Maguire, etc.) and discovering new ones (A Price Above Rubies, The Whole Wide World), and really falling in love with her all over again. I hate her first Oscar-winning performance just as much as the next person, but that's honestly the only thing I've ever seen where I thought she was genuinely bad - she's really quite a unique and impassioned performer - there's no one else like her, truly. Please, share your thoughts.

Haven't seen a ton from her, but the few performances I have seen are generally fantastic. Her first win isn't great, but it's still a lively and fun turn, and her second was one of the strongest of the last decade in the category. She's great in Bridget Jones and Chicago (especially in the "We Both Reached for the Gun" scene), and she even made Case 39 enjoyable (lol). I should really get round to seeing more of her.

Yep. Always have. The only performance of hers I genuinely don't like is Chicago.

I do. I especially like her give no fucks attitude in her present comeback where she's cut the Hollywood crap and started speaking in her real accent again. Loved her performance too, and hope many more are to come. She's always since her debut in that turd of a Chainsaw Massacre movie had that sort of wonderful movie star quality of the warm winning presence that just makes you root for them no matter what, and she's not lost it in a quarter of a century. You can't teach that stuff.

Talented actress, geniunely lovely presence, very solid filmography even back from when she was getting those very small, tiny parts in "Dazed and Confused" and "Reality Bites" alongside fairly enjoyable TV works (Murder in the Heartland, Taste for Killing). Her filmography is very solid in general. Classics like "Jerry Maguire", "Chicago", an iconic role like "Bridget Jones", and some stuff that I enjoy but feel like are bit underseen: "Appaloosa", "Whole Wide World", "Deceiver", "White Oleander".
I never got the hate for her "Cold Mountain" performance and while I"m not necessarily a fan of "Judy", I'm glad to have her back and hope it's the start of a great comeback. I'd give her noms for "One True Thing" and "Nurse Betty" as well.

Love her. Hate both of her wins, though.

Love her. Hate both of her wins, though. Yep, this is pretty much where I am. I don't begrudge her having an Oscar, but why did she win over the performances she did so easily. This is rhetorical because I know why she did, but I still don't get it. I love her other than that though. I'm so glad that she seems to be coming back, hopefully she doesn't disappear again anytime soon, especially after all the jokes that she got over her appearance.

Yup. I don't care for her performance in Cold Mountain, but I find that she has her place in pop culture. She's more like a Cameron Diaz though, but still.... I like her more than most and would rank her higher than most compared to her peers who were around the same time.

Can't think of a performance of hers that I dislike.

I love her (always have). She's my runner-up for Chicago and Judy, makes my top 5 for Cold Mountain and my top 10 for Bridget Jones' Diary, One True Thing and Jerry Maguire. Haven't seen Nurse Betty yet.

Not really, nope. Not as talented as many others of her generation.
