Happy Death Day is underrated as fuck. The first one is great. The second one isn't. I'm not a fan of switching directors at this point but we'll see.

Horrible choice as far as I'm concerned. I would've been all for it after the embarrasingly lackluster Scream 5 but Scream 6 was such a massive improvement that I think it's such a shame they won't get to "complete" their vision. Landon hasn't done anything I didn't find weak and he has absolutely never shown to be able to successfully balance the tone of comedy and horror, he just goes full on slapstick, which is the wrong choice for the franchise after Scream 6. They should go for someone who is focused on horror, and hell, if they are replacing the directors, isn't it time for a female director to helm this franchise?

Happy Death Day could have been so great if you make it literal - it's everybody's Death day not just the lead who should really die the 1st time like Leigh in Psycho or Barrymore in Scream) .......like make it all about how random sex among Leftist wackjobs on a college campus can get you killed.....and then transfer the victim among each of those characters we see at the beginning (the killer should be The Professor who hates those kids with their sex appeal even though he's sleeping with two - what do you want pal ffs? ........ their cellular telephone devices and hep jive talk) what makes him kill? An Argento-flashback to an awkward hazing ritual which haunts him to this very day........there.......now I can direct Scream 14. Pffft The only good Scream is the first Scream tbh which is a classic and was so sharp and smart that it has since been beaten to death (no pun) by movies that have been far too self-impressed "clever" for their own good.....

McCarthyism all over again. Disgusting.

Besides the abhorrent suppression of free speech and utterly false weaponization of antisemitism, this is fucking stupid from a financial and creative perspective too. Sidney, Dewey, and Gale are gone, she's the main character of the franchise now and both V/VI were focused on her connection to Billy - what the hell are they going to do? Are they just going to rewrite the whole thing? And it wouldn't surprise me if Ortega, already a huge star without this franchise and vocally pro-Palestine, potentially drops out to show support, very much like the GOTG cast standing behind Gunn.
Gen Z are their primary demographic, a generation who overwhelming support Palestine, and they've caused unnecessary controversy among that very audience, which will harm them. It is hard not to see this as McCarthyistic when the likes of Noah Schnapps, Amy Schumer, and Brett Gelman are completely fine.

Not getting into the antisemitism ........if someone felt that way they felt that way regardless of her intent (the host of the Oscars wore blackface a whole lot, Megyn Kelly asked a question about blackface and got fired - tough break, way it goes)...... nobody has a right to star in a specific movie or to make a specific movie.......
Ortega can take a walk........don't let the door hit you in the ass........she can talk to James Woods about what his politics did to his career, no one calls it McCarthyism when it happens to the other side tbh but it kind of has been for a lot of years, no?........Generation Useless can find another franchise to support .......and the people who pay the salaries can rewrite the whole thing.....or not........it's their money......it's a very old story really .....not everyone agrees with everyone else's views.......sigh.......

The other side? Since when has literally anyone been fired over supporting Israel? Every single time, without fail, it has been the exact opposite situation. Comparing the treatment of Susan Sarandon and Amy Schumer is night and day. And please, acting like James Woods has had his career ruined (he's still doing alright tbh, all things considered - was a producer on Oppenheimer) because of "politics" is also a great laugh. He only really became outspoken in the way he's known for now around 2015ish, but it was still well over a decade before that since he last was ever a big industry name. There's a reason why Vince Vaughn and Kelsey Grammer are okay for work comparatively. Woods just likes trolling and getting a rise on twitter lmao. The McCarthyisn label is very apt for how pro-Palestine voices in the industry are being uniquely smeared. It's not a case of left or right, big name or b-lister.

Gina Carano is an even worse example. She said conservatives face the same treatment today that Jews did during the Holocaust. That was antisemitism, it was as clear an example of Holocaust trivialisation as it gets. And unlike Barrera, she was able to get away with constantly posting inflammatory stuff before that incident. She pushed her luck and played the victim before she was even fired.

It’s likely a decision based on a high ranking exec taking personal issue or trying to appease other relationships such as talent agencies.

Ah well ........tough break Melissa.........way it goes........ Well, would you not say that statement was trivialising? It's not even like she used the Holocaust to describe some humanitarian catastrophe (like Gaza), she was evoking it to pity herself in a way that is fundamentally detached from reality. There is no comparison in the content with her statement and Melissa's post, which rightfully implied Western media's complicity in the crisis. She was responsible in her language and never used her posts to demonise/single-out a particular group or fall into antisemitic cliché. And I don't get this whole "no one has a right to be in a specific movie" thing either. Sure, I guess they don't. Other than working conditions and pay, no one has a right to anything in the industry. Doesn't make it right for some producer to torpedo a project, ruining it for all the creatives involved, because they took issue with an actor for speaking up about ongoing atrocities, falsely smearing them.

Here's the post that allegedly got Melissa fired (and which will probably result in Jenna leaving, maybe Jasmin Savoy Brown too, and the film being delayed at least): Here is the sort of stuff Amy Schumer has been getting away with posting: Totally fine, it seems. Also look up Noah Schnapps' "zionism is sexy" stickers, Michael Rapaport's insane rants, Brett Gelman's twitter feed, Gal Gadot screening snuff films and petitioning against ceasefires. Apparently, this is all fine. Think whatever you like about the conflict itself, I'm trying to remain apolitical as possible about it here because I know the mods hate dealing with this, but you can not tell me there isn't a double standard when it comes to celebrities using their platform, especially if someone as big as Susan Sarandon isn't safe.

Lol yeah, exactly the response I expected. Maybe you lack in reading comprehension, so I'll reiterate: I was pointing out why the McCarthyism label is appropriate by applying a contrast, because some people are targeted, while others aren't (even if their behaviour is demonstrably worse). Did the HCUA have a right to blacklist people for their affiliations? Total double standards, which is what Melissa's post mentioned in the first place. Nothing she said could be misconstrued as antisemitic or hateful or inflammatory and you would have to lie to yourself to believe that. It also sets a worrying precedent that some studio suit can fire the lead of a major franchise over such an innocuous, pacifist post, while fluffing up some distorted reasoning. It's deliberate, unfair, unequal targeting.

Btw - Barrera could have easily been fired for merely liking antisemtic posts rather than what she said herself - so spare me the bullshit in this thread because it is bullshit ^ ************ Jenna Ortega will no longer star in Scream VII, the latest in a dramatic turn of events for the next installment in the storied horror franchise. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter she informed Scream studio Spyglass months ago she did not intend to return.
The news comes one day after Spyglass fired Ortega’s co-star Melissa Barrera after she posted of dozens of messages following the Israel-Hamas war. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/jenna-ortega-quits-scream-vii-1235675434/

Watching genocidal zionists lose the PR front this past month has been nothing short of spectacular. Of course they're squirming now crying about "anti-Semitism".
Gives you some faith in humanity at least. It's a shame it had to cost so many innocent lives.

You are being very disingenuous and flippant, which proves you don't have anything remotely resembling a decent argument. What's happening in Gaza IS a Genocide. That's a fucking FACT! To quote Bill Hicks: "You can stop the internal dialogue in your head. You are WRONG. 'Kay?" And it's PATHETIC that you criticize LordBuscemi for making an analogy to how there's been no backlash for the DISGUSTING things Schumer and Rappaport have been saying, while Barrera loses a starring role in a franchise she helped bring back to life for simply telling the TRUTH and speaking up for the humanitarian POV about the atrocious war crimes that are being committed in Gaza, when you bring up fucking Gina Carano and James Woods, who literally have NOTHING to do with this issue. The analogy to spewing Pro-Genocide propaganda with no repercussions and being fired for merely pointing out the REALITY of what is happening vs. how it's being reported is 100% appropriate. Seriously, dude, you're willfully refusing to get it cuz you enjoy playing this contrarian character on these boards that is all about "owning the libs" and "calling out the left hypocrisy". But you just fail miserably when it comes to this issue, which has DICK to do with that. The Anti-Genocide side is NOT the hypocritical one here. And your attitude will age as well as Gavin McInnes' filthy adult diapers. Shame. 🤦♂️
