In other words, which males do you think do their best acting opposite females? I'll start with Richard Chamberlain, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Gosling, and Jeremy Irons.

This is a very big thing to me - one of the ways I assess actors actually is based on this and most of the male contenders as the American GOAT can't share the screen with anyone period - male or female - but especially females.
Pacino didn't do it much until he was near his 50s and then he did it great - both he and his co-stars have great rapport/chemistry and his co-stars are all-timers too - well the last 5 at least below were - all of those last 5 are in the last part of his career. When he is opposite a great co-star he delivers and I always bring this up specifically because you may not think of him as this type of generous actor, but he very much is - particularly among our elite class of American actors:
Pacino/Barkin - Sea of Love Pacino/Pfeiffer - Frankie & Johnny
Pacino/Streep - AiA Pacino/Sarandon - YDK Jack Pacino/Mirren - Phil Spector Pacino/Bening - Danny Collins Pacino/Holly Hunter - Manglehorn

Everything is fake. He probably doesn't know how to treat women in real life, still single in this age? Only the bolded ones are romances, I was just talking acting........in romance he is probably too short and yells too much - he scares them away ray! Some people like this one but he ruined it by dying. Typical......

Gosling has had good chemistry with many actresses, but I don't think his acting is any lesser with dudes. Same with Leo. Case in point being something like Blood Diamond, where he had great chemistry with both Djimon and Connelly. Or Ides of March with Gosling, where he had great chemistry with Evan Rachel Wood, but also worked well with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Giamatti, and Jeffrey Wright.
Sean Connery?
James McAvoy is pretty reliable.
Jude Law
It's actually harder to think of male actors who consistently have bad chemistry with women. Does anybody come to mind, cause I can't really think of one.

One other "all time" actor who was great with actresses was Albert Finney - though in general the great British actors don't struggle as much with it quite as the great Americans. Finney not in the romantic "chemistry" way but in the acting way - he always treated the actor opposite him with great respect and played things overwhelmingly perceptively - as early as Saturday Night and Sunday Morning where he has relationships with two women and lets you see into his character through how he relates to each. He also mastered the decaying marriage in several of his best performances, he cornered the market on it and often elevated the game of the actresses opposite him a good deal. Tom Jones, Browning Version, Under The Volcano, A Man of No Importance, Erin Brockovich, Shoot the Moon - that's a pretty wide range across females of different ages, type and relationships - lovers, spouses, ex-spouses, sister, etc. wide range of actress types : Brenda Fricker, Greta Scacchi, Susannah York, Diane Keaton, Jacqueline Bisset, Julia Roberts. He has "acting" chemistry with each and more too. This one also - Two For The Road - with Audrey Hepburn:

Humphrey Bogart (he really has to be close to the top of this, which is quite funny considering he wasn't exactly good-looking, but this really hasn't much to do with it in fact as for example I really think that Brad Pitt often has a terrible chemistry with women) Spencer Tracy Cary Grant Paul Newman Gerard Depardieu Anthony Hopkins
from the younger ones I'd agree about Ryan Gosling
Pretty sure I forgot some guys.

Anyway, back on topic:
Samuel L Jackson has extremely underrated chemistry with female co-stars, though he's not asked to display it often. The Long Kiss Goodnight ( with Geena Davis) and Captain Marvel (with Brie Larson) are two of the very best examples of platonic male/female chemistry I can think of. Neither of those films work without that chemistry. He's not called upon to do it often, but he should.
For me, two of the strongest examples of male/female chemistry in the last decade come from two GOAT level actors (some might argue the two greatest living actors). Daniel Day-Lewis in Phantom Thread (with Vicky Krieps) and Denzel Washington in Fences (with Viola Davis).
Michael Douglas chemistry with actresses was one of the foundations of his career. From Glenn Close to Kathleen Turner to Sharon Stone to Annette Benning, he had some great pairings with actresses.

Michael Douglas is a good example, especially since he often plays scummy characters. The fact that he often has good chemistry with co-stars is a good testament to his charisma as a "movie star".
