It really is amazing seeing two films made in the same year in the same country tackle such similar territory in such polar opposite ways, and both manage to endure for over half a century.
I much prefer Antonioni's take. La Dolce Vita has its moments, but it's too much for me. Like sitting an eating a whole cake in one go. I think it pales in comparison to Fellini's best work, and ultimately L'Avventura is testament to the fact that sometimes less really is more

It's 'Vita', not 'Vitta'.

Damn I rate them both exactly the same. I'm gonna go with La Dolce Vita.

L'Avventura is great, but La Dolce Vita is Top 50 of all time material.

Honestly for a second I was trying to get my post count up a bit, since I've been slacking, and Stephen has been hot on my trail, so I wound up posting in everything I could. It's a bit resentless, I'll admit.

Why do you bump this thread? the thread was made a year for god's sake!!! Hey, there's no law on here saying I can't bump old threads. Plus I did actually want to post an opinion, that and I was really bored.

Actually it's because I'm at war with Stephen, who's catching up on my posts, and has even surpassed me at points. It's ongoing.

I prefer L'Avventura, and I think it's Antonioni's best film. It's weird because I like Fellini more in general because I find Antonioni tiresome and repetitive, but like ibbi said, I don't think La Dolce Vita is among Fellini's very best work.
