Or would you rather just wait until after the Oscars when you'll have more information? (That's a joke on our "I totally called it!" PGA, DGA, M-O-U-S-E, Oscar expert mentality ) What's going to happen here - vote away but poll will close in just a couple days ......

They have no case. Give it up. Stop holding onto this fantasy of Trump not being President until the year 2025. It's not going to happen, no matter how hard all-out elemental liberals like to imagine scenarios where their dream gets answered. Including using a weak case with some weaksauce evidence to make some overly thought-out argument for impeachment.

It will be tantamount to a cover-up if Bolton isn't brought in to testify.

In every well-working democracy of course there should be witnesses to testify in a trial, because obviously their statements are an important part of finding out the truth and the sentence. This is the USA though, so I don't know if works this way there...

Poll closed but anyone watching today has really seen things escalate imo - really nasty sniping between the legal teams today....

Yet another suspicious leak today at 12:00, 1 hour before the hearing implicating the head of Trump's legal team - Pat Cipollone - who is looking steamed waiting for his chance to reply. This is amazing ........I don't think it's going to change much but Cipollone was snarky yesterday, I have a feeling we ain't seen nothing yet. Lisa Murkowski looks to be voting no, so a 51-49 at least no witnesses count.......at least as of now. Yikes.

Oh honeydew - Totally agree - people have been going bananas over this thing like they've plum lost their minds. It's like they are out of their gourds and both political parties have been mean about it and not berry nice. It's the pits and it's time they squashed the whole damn thing. I'm just grapeful it will all end soon!!

This is a complete farce. How can you have a trial without evidence? Even in a context where I was against impeachment I'd still want as many facts to get out as possible, especially if I felt the case was completely baseless. You're only opposed to witnesses and evidence if you think Trump broke the law and want to hide it.
When Mitt Romney of all people is one of the ballsiest Republican Senators for voting for witnesses you know they're completely prostrate before Trump.

Should’ve never went to the Senate. There was no chance Trump was going to be impeached with the Republican Party holding the majority. Now we’ll see Trumps approval rating go up after he’s acquitted.
The focus on getting Trump impeached has backfired, especially for corporate media. Should’ve spent more time and energy attacking his policies than focusing on this.

Trump's approvals have stayed largely the same through this whole process and will likely not change afterward. There's just a partisan (at least in terms of how you feel about Trump) split here, whereas with Clinton people who otherwise didn't like him viewed the impeachment attempt as bogus and rallied around him as a result. If I recall his peak approvals were during the trial. The standard here shouldn't be political and should be about upholding the rule of law. Trump blatantly broke the law and so the appropriate authorities should at least try to bring him consequences. You still prosecute the mafia even if you know they'll probably get off.

Yea I'm with countjohn here kinda. Approval ratings aren't gonna change at all. This impeachment trial was a huge nothingburger. If you were against Trump before this, you're still gonna be against Trump. If you were for Trump before this, you're still gonna be for Trump. If you were on the fence, I guess you'll lean one way or the other slightly but for the most part you're still gonna be on the fence. I was expecting the trial to be longer and have more substance to it but it just...happened.

The true effects of this whole impeachment fiasco are yet to be seen I think, but if the democrats lose this year it's going to be a monumental crushing defeat 10 times worse than Hilary and eyes are going to be on impeachment if that happens. The dems laid all their cards on the table here.

The dems laid all their cards on the table here. I think if Trump wins people will use impeachment as an easy goat. But if you look at it conditions right now (good economic numbers, comparatively stable world stage) are good for an incumbent and the only reason the election is in question is because Trump says stupid sh*t all the time and alienates people for no reason. A normal president would have approvals solidly over 50% and be on his way to a 350ish EV win. If Trump squeaks out a close win again it will be because conditions were strong enough to outweigh his personal issues. I don't think too many people outside of die-hards will be thinking about this in November. In that way it might help Dems a little since it could make them angry and fire up turnout, but I don't think it will be a big factor.

I legitimately don't see how this impeachment will make a lick of difference either way. Those who are pro-Trump have made up their minds that either he didn't do anything or it doesn't matter, and those who are against him didn't need this trial to make up their minds; they've had the previous 3 years to arrive at that conclusion. The way people pick and choose which facts to accept and which reality to live in depending on what information they allow to pierce through their bubbles means even an impeachment trial doesn't matter in swaying public opinion anymore. It came and it went exactly as everyone expected it to.
Still, I'm 100% with countjohn on this one; the House and Senate aren't supposed to choose if they're gonna do their jobs and uphold the rule of law depending on whether or not it's a good campaign strategy. Either you have checks and balances or you don't; whether or not the Constitution and the laws will be enforced shouldn't depend on political whims.

Guilty : 48; Not Guilty 52 in Article 1 which I assume will repeat exactly in Article 2 so 19 short (2/3rds needed) all on party lines except for Romney the sole Republican to break away.....if Article 2 is different I'll update.
Edit : 47 Guilty / 53 Not Guilty in Article 2 Romney voted Not Guilty to this count

Good for Romney showing some semblance of balls for the first time ever. The rest of them are a disgrace and I used to be a Republican and am still technically registered as one. Now cue on to Suge Knight force feeding Pelosi with the State of the union she tore apart So many people getting so upset about her tearing paper is peak conservative PC.
