After four goddamn years of being interested in seeing this thing, I finally did, my first watch of the new decade. Straight into my Top 25 of all time, couldn't have started 2020 off better. I will never get over how incredible the 1970s were for film. A playfully mad, magical exploration of creating and interacting with art, all born from love. Rivette tackles performance and improv in more interesting ways than any other director I know of. The shot towards the very end where the three girls see the people from the house on the boat is absolutely burned into my brain. Masterpiece, gang

It's a fantastic film. Definitely among my very favourites as well. A celebration of the imagination and the creative process. A lovely, magical, playful film that is among the most feel-good movies I have seen. I just love it.

Without any doubt, this is a masterpiece. I have not seen many of Rivette’s films though this one was magical. Some viewers disliked the run-time of 3 hrs. Not for me. The acting, script & photography along with the direction of Rivette is so genuine that you forget it was that long, the pacing was superb. For some reason, it really reminded me of Persona & 3 Women in many ways. Overall, it is a special treat & it all comes down to your taste in film.

Pretty sure the main actresses - who basically "co-wrote" the movie (though obviously not through a traditional script-writing process) - specifically said they wanted elements of Persona in here. Rivette is gradually becoming a real favorite for me as I see more from him. So far I've watched Paris Belongs to Us, Out 1, and this.

Haut bas fragile and Le pont du nord are the closest rivette flicks to this imo though they both are kind of overrated in his film, though they're very good. Noroit and Duelle are also quite similar. just so u guys have more jumping off points
