Well we just compared Pattinson to himself - with not a lot of votes tbh - so how about we rank these two quiet, restrained turns (that's a joke). Sandler has the awards edge but that might just be because no one was looking the Safdies way just yet for R-Patz and I'd argue as a character Pattinson is more believable to play given his age/circumstances (even if the predicaments he finds himself in, are not). On the other hand Uncut Gems is a broader (and clearly a better) film and Sandler has more to juggle too as a character though it's hard to believe this particular character hasn't met this particular fate, far sooner Who's got your vote......

Pattinson, and I personally felt Good Time was much stronger overall. Uncut Gems needed to lose about 15 minutes.

Pattinson's high-wire turn was a dizzying act of genius. Sandler was superb as well, but I think I give the edge to R-Patz on this one.

I think Sandler was great, but if felt like something he was capable of doing. Pattinson just surprised me at the time. Slight edge to Pattinson.

I thought Sandler's character was so much more interesting than Pattinson's. I could never get a handle on what RPatz's deal was in Good Time apart from being a loser and loving his brother (and selling the desperation/anxiety just as hard as Sandler), and the brotherhood angle never landed because the mentally-handicapped Nick didn't feel like a character so much as a device to drum up sympathy who's solely defined by his victimhood.
Sandler had so much more to do. Howard is a similarly skeezy loser but he's also a fighter with a huge chip on his shoulder (which came across beautifully in his final interaction with KG) with a burning desperate need to be on top, to be in control, just once. When he's watching the game in the climactic scene he's totally high on that control, because that is more thrilling to him than the money and it's revenge against everyone who ever doubted him. Sandler not only gave a better performance but he also has the richer role in the richer film.
