Singer: Freddie Mercury, hands down. Guitarist: Probably Prince. Bassists: Either Paul McCartney or Geddy Lee. Drummer: Neil Peart is a god. Keyboardist: Rick Wakeman, but if we were sticking with just piano then Elton John. Rapper: Eminem (mostly for his work from 1998-2003) and Kanye West.

Bruce Dickinson John Mayer Pino Palladino Neil Peart Richard Wright Nas I know Iron Maiden is your favorite band, but I'm surprised you didn't pick Steve Harris as your favorite as well. Never heard of Pino, TBH.

Never heard of Pino, TBH. Yeah, Steve Harris is right up there as well, could as well have picked him. I guess the fact that I recently saw Pino play together with John Mayer gave him the edge.

The usual suspects - I mean I like plenty of more current musicians but not like I love these guys (and um, 1 Girl) - couldn't pick just 1 per category : Singers : a lot......Paul Westerberg, John Lennon, Alex Chilton, Mick Jagger, Elvis Costello, Kim Shattuck, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Ray Davies etc.
Guitarists : Jeff Beck, Johnny Thunders, Keith Richards, Johnny Ramone, Chuck Berry, Neil Young
Bass Players: Lemmy, John Entwistle, Tommy Stinson
Keyboards : Um....they don't belong in Rock and Roll? j / k ........Ian McLagan........ Steve Nieve......Jerry Lee Lewis
Drummers : Keith Moon, Grant Hart, Charlie Watts, Bill Berry

I did my all-time guys earlier in this thread but somebody should talk about Kris Hood - he's the drummer in 2 great-ish current bands More Kicks and The Speedways and also another pretty good band Los Pepes who may have disbanded (not sure).... More Kicks and The Speedways are likely going to be in my best records of the year and when is the last time a drummer or anybody played as a band member (not a guest) on 2 different band records like that? He's kind of awesome....sort of like the modern Josh Freese ........and he looks like him too:

Since we're framing this around lineups I'll give you three separate bands for different eras/genres. Putting people from Led Zeppelin in the same band as like Kurt Cobain just doesn't make any sense.
Classic Rock
Singer-songwriter- John Lennon Guitarist- Jimmy Page Bassist- Paul McCartney (just as a bassist, John is doing the singing and writing) Drummer- John Bonham Bonus- Brian Wilson can play piano, theremin, harmonica, and whatever else and whip out a one off masterpiece when he's feeling up to it. Maybe some falsetto backing vocals too.
Punk/New Wave
Singer/songwriter- John Lydon Guitarist- Johnny Ramone Bassist- Dave Allen from Gang of Four Drummer- "Ted" the original Dead Kennedys drummer
Modern Alternative
Singer/songwriter- Thom Yorke Guitarist- Jonny Greenwood Bassist- Flea Drummer- Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys

Singer: Ian Gillan, but this changes all the time. (Runner up: early Robert Plant) Guitarist: Peter Green's playing has my heart (Runner up: David Gilmour) Bassist: No one is taking the place of my man John Entwistle. Drummer: Oh John Bonham, a damn beast. Easy answer for me. Keyboardist: I don't have a favorite, sorry. Rapper: It would have to be a Wu Tang member and my favorite is Ghostface Killah.
