Anyone else noticing that Makeup&H this year looks dry AF?

Would The Dead Don't Die be the first Jim Jarmusch film to get an Oscar nomination? 

It probably won't, but I think there are 5 spots now, right? So maybe it could sneak in because Focus is pretty good at nominations and acting wins. 


This seems more likely. I couldn't remember if Bohemian Rhapsody made it into this category or not. I see that it didn't, but I know there was talk that it could because of the wigs. If there's 5 spots, Rocketman probably has a good chance especially if this year is less competitive in this category.


Here's some other possible contenders from The Film Experience.

Tier 1
Fair and Balanced - Seems like a good bet.
Rocketman - Already mentioned.
The King - I have no idea. 
Endgame - This was already mentioned, and seems likely unless they go with Captain Marvel instead. I'm not really sure which had more or better makeup in it. 
Aladdin - There was makeup in this? I thought the Genie was all CGI. 

Tier 2
Joker - Mentioned.
Hellboy - This makes sense; although it bombed. I don't think it matters too much in this category though.
Jojo Rabbit - Already mentioned.
Us - Mmm, I guess so, but I don't remember a lot. 
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - Maybe, but I don't think Tom Hanks looks anything like Fred Rogers, so I'm not sure if that will hurt the film at all.

I always get the impression that this category is consistently dry/uninteresting.
