SAORISE!
I can’t say it’s her best performance to date but when I’m allowed to, I will proclaim she is the first slam dunk for sure acting nomination in her category.

I heard about that, yeah. Although I do wonder whether that'll be enough to make it stand out. Anyway, really looking forward to it! Was the moovie you didn't see good from a visual standpoint? I wonder if Freta Ferwig went for a a different visual approach from her debut film. |

So nice to hear you liked this movie that definetly isn't Lady Bird's helmer's follow-up. No way it is. I'm already saving money to buy an Oscar for the lead actress, that surely isn't Saoirse Ronan.

Interesting.I've heard some mixed responses from other test screenings.Everyone seems to think the lead actress is great and will probably get nominated,but that's it for the acting noms.It will probably get BP/screenplay/ director noms though.The screenplay is definitely non linear.

Some sounded very familiar though, often times they used just Shape of Water score (Eliza’s Theme). |

Imagine Lady Bird’s aesthetic, matched with a 1800s period setting. There is a shot of Beth playing piano from behind that pans out into another room where Chris Cooper is sitting on his staircase silently listening and it’s one of the best shots of the year. Gerwig’s vision comes off like the work of a filmmaker that has been doing this for decades. It’s very accomplished. |
