...no? It's clearly a comedy though, if the argument is about the HFPA categorization. If not, I have no idea where the argument comes from at all.

I think it certainly has the cadence of a musical and I believe Wright made it with the intention of shooting a crime thriller as if it were a musical (the soundtrack is extremely integral to the action, to the point where gunshots go in step with the beat). Whether that would be the first classification I'd give it as a genre, probably not, but I think it's not a far cry to say it's at least one of the genres of the film.

I think it's built around its soundtrack much more substantially than ordinary films are, and the focus is so heavy on the musical choices that I'd actually say yeah, it is.
