I just wish the lead wasn't Bradley "try hard" Cooper. Oh well I'm hoping Rooney Mara has a big role in this at least.

I have thought for a long time that the old Hollywood noir aesthetic would really suit her. In addition to these there were shots of her in a red femme fatale suit earlier where she looked great. But agree that Cooper is the one thing giving me pause. Wish Leo was still doing this, it looks better than Don't Look Up. I am also mixed on GDT but this sounds like the kind of material where he could do really well.

I just wish the lead wasn't Bradley "try hard" Cooper. The interesting thing and why I think he might be really great here is because that perception of him as an actor ties into role - this guys is a ruthless try hard and eager to please - in the book far more than the original '47 film which is not what this movie will be. This is actually happening now for several actors - like I'm not a big Paul Dano fan but I think he's gonna be great because all his quirks as an actor in the role mesh perfectly as The Riddler (he is a very, sometimes wrongly imaginative actor - for The Riddler it's perfect since everything is a game and joke to him)......... Jared Leto too..........not a great actor imo..........sometimes called a joke but in House of Gucci that's the character too........could be great - all 3 of these the actor and roles intersect.

Aside from Blanchett, i don't see acting noms for Cooper and Mara. But it will certainly be a production design showcase.

The reason that's unlikely (though anything is possible) is because everything spins off Cooper's character - I actually think all 3 getting in is much more likely than just Blanchett........I'd actually say if Cooper ISN'T nominated ...........it probably isn't that "good"........

When are we gonna get a trailer already? Next month? Possibly this week with Tammy Faye. Well there you go.

Crimson Peak "looked" good too. But Crimson Peak wasn't co-written by Guy Maddin's ex-wife - I mean just think about the levels of weirdo darkness she has lived through........

From Jeff Wells - "The 1947 original ran 111 minutes; Guillermo’s version run two hours, 19 minutes" - I wonder if that additional 30 minutes is almost all for handling the ending as a set-piece which is rushed and compromised in the '47 movie?
I'm also curious if he cut anything out of the '47 movie too - the Mara storyline could be cut down maybe (?) ...... ...Del Toro has said that he didn't film "the entire book" as it would have been too long to do ....hmmmmmmmmmm
Can't wait for this trailer....

Blanchett's cheeks look weird lately. Idk if it's the makeup or the botox.

Looks good. Can't believe Rooney is sixth billed and not even a with or an and. Has her stock really dropped that much?

Meh. Cooper looks so out of place. None of what i saw made me go "This will be a strong BP contender for the win" or "Cooper will definitely get a nomination for this!".

Damm, this looks good. That Dafoe monologue alone sounds incredible. Also this looks like it could be a lock for set design.

Looks beautiful! I love just how vibrant a visual stylist GDT has become with his latest pictures. Can't wait.
