Oh honey, sorry for taking so long to reply... no, I don't have the crayolavirus.... Shaving Ryan's Privates... oh honey, that was a fun shoot. We got through a lot of stunt doubles that day... Only a few months ago I ran into ones of them, goes by the name Shirley now. Said I changed his life. I hear that a lot as I'm so inspirational... Oh honey, this self isolation is driving me crazy! How many more days am I going to have to live off Nachos and Fanta? I can't believe no one in my entourage can cook. Hope you are doing better, hon. You know Legend I meant to tell you I may be immune to the virus due to the insane amount of penicillin in my body to combat syphillis a minor infection. Currently my blood is 70% penicillin, 30% vodka and 0% actual blood. crayolavirus is such a painful name for me to hear for this virus because it reminds me of the New Wave/Teen Pop album I made targeting the female youth market: "Love Takes A Whole Box Of Crayons" - that album resulted in obscenity and assault charges - although that was a loose definition of assault as in "assault on the ears" Anyhoo, with all this isolation I'm working on scripts and have something that would be perfect for you - a drama about those safety masks - which are not sexy by the way - all boring solids - white, blue, blech - and the underground world of nursing students working their way through school via prostitution while combating their alcoholism and nymphomania during the pandemic. Tentative title: Virus Masks and Drinking Flasks: Isolated and Inebriated

Oh honey, you just need an olive and you're all set to party!
I thought the album cover & inserts with the crayon drawings were genius, if not a little too graphic... It didn't matter if they weren't actually... technically correct. I certainly didn't know there were so many places to put crayons... Didn't Crayola bring a suit against you for cheapening their product.
Oh honey, I love the title but I've just been offered: Love in the time of Coppolavirus: I play a singleton Mafia daughter, known as 'The Godmother', who takes time out from attending baby showers to travel from South Vietnam to Cambodia for a blind date with Walter. She's been fixed up by her best friend, Peggy Sue, who just got married and who has been wiretapping her phone and knows how lonely she is... Walter takes her to the Cotton Club on their first date, but it turns out to be... apocalyptic... as he's a Count and a Vampire...and she's menstruating. Nervously, she ends up drinking too much, passes out and wakes up with a horse's head in her bed...
The script preface notes say, 'romcom by Sofia...shoes by Blahnik, cakes by Buddy Valastro, Kirsten Dunst to play best friend, Peggy Sue...'

Pretty cool video I never saw before where Paul Newman talks about several here very lovingly and humorously......Redford mostly and "imitating" Brando.

Nicole Kidman being complimentary about Philip Seymour Hoffman and Al Pacino in a new interview with the New York Times:"I was watching Philip Seymour Hoffman the other day and I went, "thank you for your work". I watch different actors and films, it's gut wrenchingly beautiful. Watching Al Pacino in The Godfather. Looking what Kubrick left us to ponder. It makes me cry, because it's an offering that goes beyond life".

Game recognizes Game and you can tell Jamie reveres these guys. High praise from one Oscar winner to another. Hopefully he can work with Denzel one day like he has Al Pacino. I expect this thread is going to start popping again but its nice to see that its not unusual for actors to hold Denzel in such high regard. Great acknowledgement for an actor with no BAFTA nominations..

It's a shame we'll probably never see Washington and Pacino in a movie together. As much as we argue and debate on here about all-time greats and who is better than who, just never getting to see those two legends in a film together...or Broadway play..is a big missed opportunity.

Foxx showing that great minds think alike with pacinoyes since I often say that thing about the different ethnicities and Pacino...
As much as I say Washington/Pacino are not necessarily "perfect" for acting comparisons or a "face-off" as we sometimes have made out over the years on MAR and the IMDB days too..........they do overlap in some ways certainly and will always be grouped together to some people......and since people sort of look to me these days to throw out weird acting metrics, here's a good one to contemplate:
Actors or actresses with 8 or more Oscar nominations who also have a Tony award.........only Al Pacino and Denzel Washington have done that.... that alone is a kind of mind blowing career stat......if they had nothing else in common they'd be linked just for that alone.

I feel the most realistic opportunity for them to work together was probably on Crimson Tide, as Pacino had been attached to the role of Captain Ramsay. But Hackman was so brilliant in the role and worked so welll in tandem with Washington, that I would not have traded Hackman for any other actor in that role. Oh well. Some things are never meant to be.

Oh honey, I've had several letters from Meryl... well not Meryl exactly, as you don't expect she'd have the time and she'd probably dictate it anyway to an assistant... it was her lawyer. It asked me to stop referring to myself as 'Meryl's other daughter' and that if I stopped immediately no action would be taken... I'm sure it was meant admiringly.
Then about a year later I got another letter from Meryl (her lawyer again), saying that I must cease telling people that I'm Meryl's granddaughter or they would take immediate action.
Clearly she's a big fan! How many other actresses get letters from Meryl Streep... or her lawyers!

Love this - Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Glenn Close (with whom she worked in Albert Nobbs) from The Guardian: She is such an inspiration to young actresses.

Not a story as much but I was a little surprised to see this from the great Gong Li a few weeks back in Variety about the US and the 3 US GOATs (DePac/Streep) and how maybe we don't always see it and how long of a shadow their works cast around the whole world.......interesting on their influence in Indian cinema as well also I've noticed also: Gong’s parents were professors and expected her to follow. But she wanted to act, so enrolled in the Central Drama Academy.
“When I was young, I didn’t understand movies; we did not have a lot of movies imported. After I entered the Academy, we watched a lot of movies. I saw ‘The Godfather’ over and over; that was like a textbook. I learned from watching Al Pacino, Robert De Niro; they inspired me. After that, performances like Meryl Streep’s were really helpful.”variety.com/2021/awards/asia/gong-li-leap-lang-ping-1234901240/

Idris Elba called Naomie Harris and Kate Winslet the best actors he had ever worked with ( in October, 2017): Impressive statement, considering he had already worked with Denzel Washington, Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Matthew McConaughey, Nicolas Cage, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Hilary Swank, Regina King, and many others by that point.

Interestingly enough, Idris Elba has stated over the years that he didn't feel he really got to properly "work" with Denzel Washington on American Gangster in 2007, as his role in the film was so small and their interaction so limited. When asked which actors he still wants to work with, his go to answer is often Denzel. Guess he wants the full experience before counting it Promoting Molly's Games in 2018, Elba said the people he most wanted to work with at the time: "I'd love to work with Ava Duvernay, Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep. These are some of the greatest people in entertainment ". www.theroot.com/idris-elba-talks-mollys-game-and-working-with-aaron-sor-1821871549

Proof that Elba has worked with Washington: Elba isn't a delusional loon, so he acknowledges that he's worked with Washington: Elba seems to think Harris and Winslet are better actors than Washington, Penn, Oldman, Theron, and many others he has worked with. It is what it is, not a big deal. You don't have to psychoanalyze Elba or make up shit about what he's thinking just because you're seething over his opinion. Actors can want to work with actors they have already worked with, without it meaning that they have somehow never worked with actors that they actually have worked with.

Anyway....I didn't create this thread for Dumb and Dumber to ruin because they can't handle my support of certain actors, so bringing it right back on topic with the kind of story this thread was made for: A hilarious video where Mandy Patinkin basically keeps saying how much he loves Christian Bale and he is his favorite actor....but he cannot remember Bale's name Patinkin (68 years old) also seems to think Bale (47 years old) is the same generation as him. Bless him! 5 minutes long, but the whole thing is so funny, it's worth the watch, imho.

[Burt Lancaster on working with Montgomery Clift on From Here to Eternity (1953)] The only time I was ever really afraid as an actor was that first scene with Clift. It was my scene, understand: I was the sergeant, I gave the orders, he was just a private under me. Well, when we started, I couldn't stop my knees from shaking. I thought they might have to stop because my trembling would show. I was afraid he was going to blow me right off the screen.
