What was that weaselly little bet? Betting on both of you to miss? I don't get it.
Edit: Playing with Ken's mind, hoping for him to go small? That's an interesting strategy.

Took me way too long to think of the answer to today's Final Jeopardy... that's how much I've purged last year's Oscars from my memory.

McKenzie finally goes down.
I thought her insane risk taking on the Daily Doubles would eventually be her death, but it actually wasn't that that got her today.
Anyways, she'll be back for Champions, so...

Trebek looks better here than he has on some recent episodes.

Tonight's deathly difficult Final Jeopardy topic. Don't think there's many people that could possibly know this one, unless they kept track of President's deathplaces and then know who the relative was it was named after. Two equivalents you have to draw here.

Carson is in the desert, and there's not any President named Carson. The answer is Cleveland. Garfield was buried there, and it was named after Moses Cleaveland relative to Grover Cleveland. No worries, nobody got this one right.

I mean, ultimately the question is just "What midwest city shares the name of a 19th century U.S. president?" It's not that hard. If anything it's just misleading, as all three of the contestants I believe picked Lincoln.

But you have to add the fact that a President was buried there otherwise both Lincoln and Cleveland could apply. But yeah... they definitely could've shortened it to make it less confusing.

First one I thought of was also Lincoln. I totally forgot about a president named Cleveland. I'm terrible with US Presidents.

I got mislead by "relative" of a president and didn't think of that relative being on the male side of the family for some reason.

I’m still laughing about the girl who answered “Babe Ruth” for what baseball player broke the color barrier in 1947.

Really getting a kick out of these early episodes, which I had never seen before (that Final Jeopardy result in the second episode ). It's fun noticing how things were slightly different about the show back then (aside from the obvious old-school look of it), like the difficulty of the clues, how much they're worth, the timing of contestants buzzing in, the audience clapping after every correct response lol, Alex's style of hosting, the general pacing of the show, etc.

That episode with Carol Burnett and Regis Philbin was comedy gold.
