This awards preview article from The Playlist says that a few things might be award players from what they’ve heard, so grain of salt and all. Sometimes it can translate to a winner like when Laura Dern got a lot of hype for Marriage Story, or it can just be one of the many examples that doesn’t work out. FWIW, Erik Anderson also heard that it’s going to be a big player too though. If Frances McDormand can win two back-to-back Oscars for Best Picture, would she be the first to do so since David O. Selznick? Franklin sinks.

Sounds great. The idea of McDormand being in another best picture winner fills me with joy, also wouldn't be surprised if it leads not only to Denzel's ninth acting Oscar, but also maybe possibly his third win? If it's truly as good as we're being told, I don't think it's impossible.

Perhaps..long way to go for that.

Does anyone know if this is a traditional take on Macbeth or a modernize type version?

Does anyone know if this is a traditional take on Macbeth or a modernize type version? Nothing concrete yet, but from what I've heard, it's somewhat surrealist in design.

Does anyone know if this is a traditional take on Macbeth or a modernize type version? The big issue is the "85% of the text is the same" comment around this movie - does that mean in the film 85% is of the text is from the play in this version OR they shot 85% of the whole play........ That is the entire key to the movie because you have to cut text for their ages too .........it may not be fully traditional but they are going to be speaking 85% of the exact text........... so it's more traditional................. even if it may look more modern. Unless that "85% of the text" thing was false.........but I don't think it was........we'll know when the running time comes out...... Side note: There is no f'n way a Shakespeare movie is "winning BP" in 2021 in the year after the lowest rated Academy Awards and the movies are already so niched as to be off the pop culture radar ............... McDormand Oscar.........maybe..........Washington Oscar.........maybe........BP nomination.......maybe........ BP win.......not bloody likely..........

The funny thing though is every time we say, oh that will never happen it ends up happening. Haha. Look at Fran for proof of that.

Have always struggled to get into Coen movies. Will be interested to see how this one goes since it’ll just be one of the brothers this time around.

I like this description a lot. linkI always felt that Macbeth was never a deep play, but oh damn is it atmospheric. Shakes does a great job of conjuring dread and suspense. It seems that Coen has decided to focus on the play's strongest aspects.
