I think Sandy needs someone suuuper innocent. And not in a cute / kittenish way like Julianna Hough was in the live version. I mean proper, angelic, churchy, almost too boring and sweet. Vanilla vanilla vanilla. The story kind of hinges on that sort of appeal (and lack of), and it makes the big (very outdated) reveal at the end more powerful.
Even when she does 'girlish' I think Stone has an edge and attitude. Something about the voice and face that seems more experienced in some way. I think she'd actually make a solid Rizzo.

^I agree but I feel Emma can easily pull off Sandy because her girl-next-door charm/persona will easily mesh with the 'sweet as pie' character.
From the present generation, I can only visualize JLaw as Rizzo lol.

nay, too old. Cast teens as teens. Elle Fanning, Mackenzie Foy, Joey King, those girls.

nay, too old. Cast teens as teens. True. But that never stopped the casting of the 1978 movie before. If we're going for that kind of route, then I could see Emma Stone pull off that role.

If it has to be made, she's not a bad choice

I wouldn't wish that role or film on anyone.

I wouldn't wish that role or film on anyone. I agree. I think that the film plus the live tv version that Fox just did that surprisingly was pretty good is enough for now. If they remade the film again, I don't think it would compare to either the film or tv version, and it feels too soon after the tv version to remake it again.

nay, too old. Cast teens as teens. True. But that never stopped the casting of the 1978 movie before. Even the makers of Grease: Live did not hire actual teenagers.
