Positive, surprisingly. 78% at rotten tomatoes. Guess Emma Watson isn't that mad for not being on La La Land. (I looked up and I think it hasn't been posted here yet)

I'm surprised by your surprise.
The story is already all there, what is needed is quality of production and execution for that movie to get ok reviews, it is Disney doing it and it was close to certain to me that they will achieve something competent.

I was expecting something like Maleficent - the audience is bound to love it, but not something the critics would buy. The production design looked kinda weird in the trailers, and I'm always skeptical when Emma Watson is involved in a movie.

79% on RT now. It's getting positive reviews, just not overwhelmingly positive reviews The Jungle Book got last year.

Don't trust RT, it's too simplistic.

Not sure why (probably because of the amount of success) I thought Maleficent was a 70% RT type of movie, I retract my statement that it was to expected, I thought Disney was hitting a much better average in that genre. But still, doing a beauty and the beast so close to the animated version, should be one of the easiest movie to pull off to an ok level, lot of the creative done is already made and a proved concept.

Sounds like a run of the mill /safe reboot after reading some of the reviews. I'll still probably see it eventually but doesn't sound too eventful imo.
