PlaybillGillian Anderson! Sir Ian McKellen! Patti LuPone! Dame Eileen Atkins! VANESSA REDGRAVE! I'm really hoping The Inheritance transfers to Broadway. Directed by Stephen Daldry, the adaptation transposes E.M. Forster's Howards End to New York within the gay community during the peak of the AIDS crisis. pacinoyes Mattsby

I had mentioned I think (in the "Across 3 Mediums thread") that McKellan may now actually be positioned as the great UK actor of his era which is amazing because he was not for the longest time thought of much - but his Lear is the Lear, and he has out positioned in a very sly way actors of his age and country who have 1 or 2 Oscars while he has none (Hopkins, Caine). The 2017 film "Playing The Part" positions him big time as not just a great actor but a revolutionary figure both for being gay and an activist. It is a fascinating piece of propaganda and the way actors are seen and thought of and how they present themselves to the public. I would think that as an heir to Olivier, Hopkins who has always been thought of as the guy for far longer than McKellan must be a little.......baffled at how things may have ended up? American actors of that age range.......take note. Bravo to Redgrave as well

Olivier Awards today @1:00 EST - if Jodie Comer loses I may need to have a drink.........but I'm likely to have a drink most days anyway........um In many ways Paul Mescal is more of a favorite to win Best Actor than Comer is to win Best Actress - she has a more stacked category.......if Comer loses that is the path to someone else winninng the Tony.......like Chastain ..... Link to watch .....

Comer and Mescal won. Both of them are one BAFTA film award away from completing the British triple crown at the age of 30 and 27 respectively. Iconic.
