I would go with Silver Linings Playbook. I do like him but personally have never been blown away by him in regard to his dramatic performances.

None?
I'll say ASIB - it used to be SLP but that is really Lawrence's show, he has more colors to paint with in ASIB and he deserves that nod imo.

American Sniper. (Overblown) accusations of jingoism aside, it's the only one of his performances where I felt like he took what was on the page and elevated it and managed to hearken back to some classic, Gary Cooper-esque style of acting.
He's decent in Silver Linings Playbook, utterly abysmal in American Hustle, and mostly good in A Star Is Born (even if he is hamstrung by his own ego in it), but American Sniper is the only time I've seen his name on nomination morning and went, "Yeah, I'm fine with that." Even if he did take Jake's spot.

SLP I think is by far his best work yet, probably his only true great performance. He can be a bit hammy at times in it but in general it's a very effective, mostly believe performance. In both A Star is Born and American Sniper he pulls the same kind of phony imitation that can work in spades but overall is just superficial. And yeah, he's downright awful in American Hustle.

Love him in A Star is Born. Like him in Silver Linings Playbook. Has his moments in American Hustle, but generally it's as messy as everything else about that movie.
Haven't seen Sniper.

1. A Star is Born 2. American Sniper 3. Silver Linings Playbook | | Fifty feet of crap | | 4. American Hustle
He works well with emotionally volatile characters, it allows him to take some of the stretches in acting he leans towards while still being consistent with the psychology of the character. Which is exactly why he sucked in American Hustle; O. Russell directed everyone to go bigger and more eccentric and it makes no sense for Cooper's FBI agent to have the temperament of a spoiled toddler. Anyway, I quite like the others and give the edge to ASIB because I really love the way he and Gaga act off one another and I've been on a kick lately for generous acting (his direction isn't always so generous, but the acting is).

I say SLP.
He's trying hard to be a dramatic actor. He's doing fine but not great imo.

Silver Linings Playbook is quite good and he's decent in A Star Is Born.
I can barely remember anything about him in American Sniper, but I recall enough to know I wasn't all that impressed at the time.
I think he's genuinely dreadful in American Hustle.
