This was rather disappointing. Not that it was terrible, but it wasn't great and had so much potential. When this was first announced I was really excited as this is one of my favorite genres and I've been a big fan of Affleck's directorial efforts. In the end, there was just too much incknsistency. There was a lot good and a lot bad. I think the direction was still good, but the film felt too disjointed. Another rewrite or two on the script would have done wonders. While I don't think Affleck was terrible in the lead role, I think he ultimately would have been better served casting someone else. Not certain who, but Robert Pattinson popped up in my mind as someone that could have nailed it. I thought Cooper and Messina were the highlights of the cast. Also, this definitely deserved some tech noms. Production Design, Costumes, and probably Cinematography.

It's defo not as great as Affleck's previous efforts, but still liked it a good deal. Currently in my top 10 of the year even.

This movie was depressing and sad but well made. The imagery was stunning and cast perfectly. 7/10.

The movie was all over the place. At a certain moment, I couldn't wait for it to finish. Then it finished, but it didn't, then it really finished, but it didn't, until finally it finished and I saw the end credits roll. I fucked off right away before a scene could pop up during or after the credits. It was the single most disappointing film of the year for me, because I expected to love it.
