Phantom Thread across the board quite easily. Probably the best film of the decade and a top-tier all-time great. The Favourite is pretty damn good, but it doesn't even hold a candle to Phantom Thread.

Phantom Thread.
The more I think on The Favourite the more I really like it though. That ending is genuinely understated. Great stuff.

Phantom Thread for everything but cast but they're both two of best films of the decade. Exactly this. I give Phantom Thread the slight edge in every other category, but both are truly wonderful, rich films that are of the highest of calibres. |

It's close. Phantom Thread is almost unquestionably the stronger piece of work from a writing, and directorial creativity point of view for like 95% of its time, but I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate the finale, it's so bad, so condescending, more Nolan than Anderson. It should have ended a couple of scenes earlier, that interview with Krieps and the ugly Gleeson brother should have been excised, and for that reason I kind of like The Favourite more.

They are both immediate all-timers of mine.
