Didn't expect I'd love the soundtrack so much, esp. without Zimmer!!!

Didn't expect I'd love the soundtrack so much, esp. without Zimmer!!! It was clear from the original teaser and especially the prologue that Ludwig nailed it. There’s a similar reverberation to Zimmer’s low ends and bass, but definitely it’s own highly charged, gorgeously constructed beast of a percussion masterclass. I would put him as favourite right now to win Oscar #2 for this but we have yet to hear what magic Reznor/Ross have conjured up for MANK!

You know you're in too deep when you can accurately predict the answers to multiple questions in the same interview, even when they're not the stock questions that get asked over and over again in other interviews...

The tremendous score has been officially released. I would say these are my favourites but they are all brilliant. An eclectic and creative piece of work from Ludwig.

Yeah, starting to think this might take WW84’s August 14th spot as has been heavily speculated.....which would be totally fine. I’ll be cool with that as long as WW84 doesn’t take Dunes spot in December. FUCK

As I said in another thread, it would be insane for WB to open two big movies in two consecutive weeks in a pre-COVID 19, but doing it now it's certainly wanting financial suicide.
Hopefully they change their mind.

Should have known someone would do this at some point. After reading claims that the "Meeting Neil" track features a reversed form of The Protagonist's theme, I can now confirm that to be true haha

Good stuff.
I appreciate that he gives his own interpretation of where the beat is in "Rainy Night in Tallinn" because what he is snapping near the end of the first video is definitely not the way I felt it when I first heard the cue. The rhythmic layering is just the kind of shit that my ear loves.
Not surprised that it was Ludwig's idea to bring in Travis Scott for the end credits, though part of me still likes to think that Nolan wanted an outside artist to do a "Bond theme song" all along. Also interesting to learn that "Trucks in Place" was written before "The Plan." I had been wondering if one inspired the other, or if they were written concurrently.
I also love that Metallica's "Blackened" served as an inspiration for the score. As a pretty big Metallica fan, I had no idea the intro to that song was a reversed recording.

Interesting excerpt from an interview with Nolan in the latest issue of Total Film:
This might seem like a characteristically noncommittal answer from Nolan at first glance, but the way he actually expresses it is kind of funny because of how defensive he seems. Honestly, this sounds like a "yes, but I'm not going to tell you" answer. He's created his own Bond character, so it would make sense that he would want to continue playing around in this world, even with his history of avoiding sequels outside of TDK trilogy.

Nolan was recently on the Happy Sad Confused podcast - talks about Tenet among other things like the future of theatrical exhibition (episode was recorded fresh after the news about Warner Bros/HBO Max hit). Other highlights: reveals that his favorite Bond actor is Timothy Dalton because he believes he's closest to the character in the books; talks about Fincher and loves Alien 3; also is a fan of the Fast and Furious movies (says he has a soft spot for Tokyo Drift) Horowitz also asks Nolan about whether he's considered going back to his Howard Hughes script, and he says he tends to read it every few years and will probably take a look at it again soon to see if it still speaks to him..... so there's still the possibility it could be something he might make eventually.

What a week it's been for Nolan. Apparently he's also presenting at The Game Awards tonight and my new wish for 2021 is that he becomes so fed up with the film industry after Warner Bros. tells him they'll only release his new movies on HBO "the worst streaming service" Max that he decides to pivot to the gaming industry and make a ridiculous Kojima-esque third-person shooter.

It's just something that I'd love to see him do at some point.

Can't wait for Tenet to appear on VOD so I can finally watch it. Question for those who've already seen it...am I going to need a degree in Quantum Mechanics to understand what the hell is going on? No. I genuinely think Tenet is Nolan taking the piss out of his critics for having overly convoluted setups that he comes up with the mother of all convoluted setups, but ultimately it's not about understanding it because the protagonist (sorry, The Protagonist) doesn't really give a shit about the how or the why, so neither should we. And Nolan seems like he's having fun for what I think is the first time in well over a decade (if not ever).
