Like I said before, there's no real controversy around Green Book. It's media noise. What the industry thinks of the film only matters. But setting that aside, the PGA win significantly increase GB's Oscar chances.
Here's some stats for you.
20/30 PGA winners have won Best Picture. That's 67% accuracy or 69% if you don't count Gravity. The misses were La La Land, The Big Short, Gravity (12 Years won it), Little Miss Sunshine, Brokeback Mountain, The Aviator, Moulin Rouge, Saving Private Ryan, Apollo 13, and Crying Game.
26/30 times, the PGA winner has won the DGA, WGA or both. 12 Years (wasn't eligible for the WGA), The Aviator, Moulin Rouge, and Gladiator were the exceptions.
What does this mean?
For me, it first and foremost puts GB as the favorite to win WGA for Best Original Screenplay. I don't see it winning the DGA - No Best Director BAFTA nomination.
What puts the film at a great advantage is the fact we're living in divided times politically. GB communicates the themes of unity and putting our differences aside and work on what we do agree with. Farrelly hit that message home at the Globes. On top of that, the film showed it can win a preferential ballot and seems to be a film people generally come out moved emotionally.
With that said, it still comes into this Oscar race with a major handicap - no SAGE nomination. Braveheart and Water were able to buck that trend, mainly thanks to the other contenders having the same kind of problems as well.
If Green Book doesn't score directing, writing, and editing nominations at the Oscars, it will have another handicap on its side.
So anyway, congratulations to Green Book, you have officially become a probable Best Picture winner.

It's starting to look like a Green Book/Roma BP/BD split, but I wouldn't count out Roma for both still.

I just think it strengthens the chances of Green Book in the Best Picture race. But I don't think there's a clear front runner. Roma and Green Book have the best chances. But I wouldn't totally write off A Star is Born or maybe BlacKkKlansman, just because right now there's no movie that dominates.
The oscar nominations will tell more. It will be especially interesting to see if Green Book gets the important Editing nod here.

Remember the days when people thought A Star Is Born was winning three acting awards?

Remember the days when people thought A Star Is Born was winning three acting awards? That sounds like the opening line to a Jackson Maine song.

It means it's probably winning Best Picture.
We can finally put the BlacKKKlansman talks to rest

Remember the days when people thought A Star Is Born was winning three acting awards? Or The Favorite Best Picture? I knew that was a wild pick when I made it. I have no regrets. But Cooper was seen to be as locked as you could get, Gaga was out in force campaigning hard, and Elliott had a weak category and was a loved vet. After NBR, people were thinking the race was done. Be careful what you wish for, I guess.

It would be a perfectly fine BP winner and I would also enjoy all the meltdowns online.

I'm still finding it hard to believe PGA actually found it to be the best-produced movie of the year ... Nothing about it stands out ... Nothing ... I mean even BR might have been deemed well-produced by them as it was able to create such a B.O. Black Panther WAS the best produced movie of the year imho. Roma, Blackkklansman or even ASIB (which I didn't like much) were definitely well-produced ... Hell I even would've been happy with AQP .... Here's hoping the academy does better than this
