What does that say about its Oscar chances? Could it sneak in akin to 20th Century Women? The only time the screenplay winner at Critic’s Choice wasn’t nominated at the Academy Awards was Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which was a dual win for Charlie Kaufman since Adaptation also won that year. So First Reformed not getting at least a nomination at the Oscars for its screenplay after winning at Critic’s Choice would be borderline unheard of.

Maybe, but what might it knock out of the top 5, Green Book?

Maybe, but what might it knock out of the top 5, Green Book? With the recent bad press Nick Vallelonga has gotten, it wouldn’t surprise me at this point if Green Book did get knocked out.

I'm gonna stick to my guns and say it gets snubbed, if only because I'll be able to experience unparalleled joy and surprise if it doesn't.

It gets in unless they really hate Schrader on a personal level. Oscars' writing branch is very different from WGA.
