I think we safely have eight: A Star is Born, Roma, The Favourite, BlacKkKlansman, Green Book, Vice, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Black Panther. Black Panther's underperformance so far means it could be vulnerable, and Bohemian Rhapsody *could* miss out if the backlash is intense enough the next couple weeks during the voting period, but for now I think they're all pretty secure. I would certainly believe it if that's the entire line-up. However, I still maintain that I think Beale Street takes the ninth spot as this year's Phantom Thread wild card pick. And if that doesn't happen, then A Quiet Place has a pretty decent shot at this point, too. So, for now I'm gonna say nine, but to your point, it's starting to feel more like just eight by the day.

This, word for word. I'm also predicting Beale Street to sneak in, though of course that's pretty shaky.

I'm losing all hope in if beale street. In fact, none of the indie spirit nominated films look to make it this year. If that happens, I can't remember last time one didn't score a nod.

This. 8 are pretty safe. If there's a 9th, it will be Beale Street or A Quiet Place.
