Love those vocals from the female on Knock Knock .......my fave cut off that album is this one with usual great Dr Frank lyrics. When you've loved and lost and lost and lost like the good Dr. you know the meaning of heartache. "The little hand is on the one And I have just begun to suck on a lime And start learning to tell time I started feeling low a beer ago And in about a gin and tonic or two I'll be a blue hawaiian away from sighing for you"

The first two seconds of this song is the music equivalent to how a shot of espresso hits me.

This song, and the album it's featured in, are absolutely fantastic:

Solid new Irish band going around, first alb dropped few weeks ago. I see they'll be on Fallon tonight. This song is pretty good (opening line: "You're not alive until you start kicking") but the sound mix on the album version is squeaky-cleaned and I haven't compared the other songs to earlier versions but I wonder if they mixed the life outta 'em...

Chris Kenner, singer-songwriter from New Orleans - not much online written about him. Known for a great little song "I Like It Like That" - his first and only major hit - and then his career steadily diminished and into some dark places - homelessness, alcoholism, three years in prison, dies at 46 y/o. Lotta his songs got much more attention when bigger names covered them, and his career always seemed overshadowed (and kinda screwed over) by Fats Domino. Bunch of his songs are reminiscent of Sam Cooke, and some (like "You Can Run But You Can't Slip Away") call forward to those NOLA guys like Dr John.
"They Took My Money" (the best I've heard from him) is a B-side from a '65 album, wasn't a success then or considered in any way at all now, and you can't find the lyrics online anywhere, but this is a pointed, badass, angry yet deeply sad song about the many people who made money off his work but wouldn't help him when he struggled.
