Amy Adams? Her track record is pretty flawless these past few years (minus some DC films).

Oh honey, allegedly it is Margot Robbie. Her career has come up really fast, considering only five years ago she had a small part in The Wolf of Wall Street. My agent says that she's the hottest actress in Hollywood at the moment... although he did sound quite breathy on the phone so I did wonder what he was doing... but I'm sure that is what he meant.
It's interesting that she who must never be named in front of me wasn't invited back to work with Lanthimos again for The Favourite. Clearly he was more impressed with Weisz...

She is great at picking projects (minus BvS but that wasn't her fault ) And I can't believe she wasn't nominated for an Oscar for her hard work on Arrival . Also , Sharp Objects was great and she carried that show imo.

Meryl Streep can get any part she wants for a woman in her age range and could get an Oscar nom for anything she does on camera. Amy Adams is up there too.
Jennifer Lawrence would have been up there a few years ago but she's cooled off a little.

Oh honey, Kate Winslet was cast, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with Wonder Wheel...

The last 2 years it's been Kidman, by a very long way (and not even Adams is close. The woman had Batman vs Superman in 2016, then Justice League in 2017. That's a mixed bag). 6 movies and 2 TV shows. The only critical failure was How To Talk To Girls At Parties. Her run since Lion has been as impressive as I've seen from any actor.Kidman might even be able to escape the curse of terrible DCEU movies that's inflicted Adams, as Aquaman looks like it could actually be good/fun.
In general though, it's Streep.

Streep has had the best career in Hollywood for like decades now.

I wouldn't say it's a particularly "long" way in Kidman's case, but she's had a pretty damn good couple of years. I'd still say Emma Stone is giving her a run for it, having won an Oscar, in all likelihood getting another nomination this year, having a highly acclaimed television performance that could see her getting some awards love.

Variety just named Kidman Show Woman Of The Year, on the strength of her work in Boy Erased and Destroyer and Aquaman. First woman Variety has ever given that accolade to (It's usually Show Man Of The Year). She ran riot in 2017 as well variety.com/2018/film/features/nicole-kidman-destroyer-big-little-lies-aquaman-1203032454/I think it is by a very long way. Kidman takes the last 2 years on quality and quantity. Stone has had a very nice run, but it's not in the same manner as Kidman, which has been McConaughey-esque. And Maniac was something of a non-event, even though Netflix put a lot into their marketing budget to hype it. I don't see Stone being remembered for next season's Emmys. TV is crazy competitive these days. Not everything can be Big Little Lies even if you are a movie star.

The best actress going right now is the obviously the remarkable Adele Haenel a once in a generation performer who writes her cinema career with a lightning bolt - good movies, bad movies, she's always a star and I mean that in the best sense of the word. If you watch her filmography it's breathtaking and I don't mean one grand slam after another - I mean the breadth of it at 29! Her career is basically anything she wants it to be at the moment. Modern films, period pieces, drama or comedy, ensemble or lead - there's nothing you can throw at her that she can't excel at - she is this generations Huppert. More to come no doubt. Edit : Oops missed that Hollywood part - sorry, I really love her though

The girl has already won 2 Cesars and she's not even 30 yet. Sandrine Bonaire also won 2 Cesars before the age of 30 back in the 80's.

The gold - no, platinum - standard since the late 70s, babe. No one else comes close. Huppert is her only real equal on the world stage.

Oh honey, I've really come to appreciate Kate Winslet more after The Dressmaker. I wonder how she is in Wonder Wheel - I will get around to watching it at some point. I've just been insanely busy... resting.

That's your main problem , honey .You just rest way too much instead of perfecting your craft ! How do you expect people to take you seriously if you don't do the work ? Enough with blowing old and greasy billionaires already ! It's about time to call Nicole Kidman so she could give you REAL acting lessons

Oh honey, go wash out your mouth with bleach! I can't believe you just used the N-word. Shame on you.
I'd have two Oscars by now if Cate Blanchett hadn't taken all my parts...
