Legendary screenwriter indeed. His script for All the President's Men is one of the best ever. Rest in Peace.

RIP. Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and Marathon Man are certainly all-timers.
Rob Reiner gave him one of the best (brief) tributes I've ever seen:

And I just hosted a Princess Bride screening at the library last month. God is that movie quotable. One of the great screenwriters, his filmography is full of gems, and to top it all off he was also an accomplished novelist. Magic in particular is a film worth seeking out. Interesting to note that he worked one of the drafts for Shazam back when that film was in development hell. RIP!!!

Oh no. One of the greatest and wittiest screenwriters. Butch Cassidy and All the President's Men are up there with almost any other work and he has much more to be proud of with Marathin-Man, Princess Bride, the criminally underrated Maverick, Misery and Harper.
Requiescat in pace

Legend. When Gangs of New York came out he wrote a SAVAGE hit piece on it that sort of turned me off of him for life, but damn he was good. From Butch and Sundance through certainly Maverick he had a 25 year run where more stuff he wrote was really good or better than not. Not many screenwriters can match that.
